Looking forward to this more than ever this year. Doubt I’ll be making the trip across unfortunately. Got involved in the Ante Post (mugs) market more than ever this year and having started to dip my toe in it I’ve now ended up with the following:
Supreme Novices - Cinders & Ashes 2pts EW @ 25/1 (Coral)
Arkle - Peddlers Cross 3pts EW @ 7/1 (Hills)
Champion Hurdle - Oscars Well 1.5pts EW @ 25/1 (Betfred)
RSA Chase - Hidden Cyclone 1pt EW @ 25/1 (Hills)
World Hurdle - Oscar Whisky 3pts EW @ 10/1 (Hills)
Triumph Hurdle - Ut de Sivola 3pts EW @ 14/1 - (Betfred)
Gold Cup - Weapons Amnesty 1pt EW @ 20/1 (Hills) & Time for Rupert 2pts EW @ 16/1 - Weapons already a loser having been injured earlier in season
Foxhunters - Backstage 3pts EW @ 12/1 (VC)
Bumper - Moscow Mannon 1pt EW @ 25/1 (Betfred)
Jewson - Champion Court 2pts EW @ 12/1 (Betfred)
I’ve also had a massive cut off a bet Ladbrokes were offering in November at 3/1 that any runner in the Greatwood hurdle or Paddy Power Gold Cup would go onto win a race at the festival. I’ll be trading this through the week and can’t see a way of losing money on it - at worst case I can see myself breaking even.
Hoping to get there for first visit … a prestbury park virgin. I have blown the chance of getting there twice in the past 6 years and dont want to miss this time.
Hopefully. I think Peddlers will come good and should be placed at worst. Oscar Whiskey the same. Hidden Cyclone and Time For Rupert could be complete bombs. Cinders & Ashes and Ut De Sivola still have an element of the unknown to them. Backstage is almost the one I’m most confident about at this point if he gets there! Nothing to touch him in Ireland - only realised there now he’s best priced 15/2. I make it a match race between himself and Englands best. Hopefully Elliott has him right for it rather than pissing around with the English and Irish National again.
I’ll be there for the 4 days and may even round off the week with a 1st time trip to Uttoxeter for the midlands National. A/P book so far is as follows.
1pt Steps to Freedom 10/1, Supreme
1pt Peddlers Cross 6/1, Arkle
£80 to 4k+, Quel Esprit ,Gold Cup
Looking forward to it 2RE. Been to the Paddy Power meeting before but this will be my first time at The Festival. Just praying all the top horses make it there espicially the likes of Hurricane Fly, Big Bucks and Kauto Star whose Indian Summer will be bought to an unmerciful end by Quel Esprit.
Far more crowded than PP. must say I have respect for anyone who can do the 4 days, 2 is tough enough going on the wallet and the body, think to do 4 you’d nearly need to not drink at the races. Anyways, going Tue Wedn again with usual crew. Can’t fkn wait
He’s entered in the John Byrne of Crablane & Pettitts Super Valu Open 5yo+ in Tinahely this weekend.
I’d imagine he won’t have many more outings between now and March. He is already 4 from 4 this season.
