Chippers

I’d like to record two recent experiences at two chippers in different parts of the country.

Last week I called to Giulios in Baldoyle. I was tired and hungry and it was midnight. I ordered a doner kebab and chips. It took them 20 minutes to produce this simple meal and I was pissed off with the delay when I got it. Taste wise it was nothing to write home about. I wouldn’t be in any hurry back.

Last night I was in O’Sheas in Dunmore East. I had a lovely haddock and chips. I’ll be back.

Borza’s in Kimmage yesterday.

Snack box meal was a stiff €8. Chicken pieces were large but were quite dry. Chips were fantastic.

It is the nearest chipper to me but still requires a drive and there is ample parking available. I’ll probably be back.

do you get any “extras” for the €8. Such as a tub of stuffing, coleslaw or even curry sauce?

Nowt.

It’s National Fish and Chip day today. Half price fish and chips in the Hamburger Bar in Kilbarrack tonight. They have been queueing around the block since 4 pm.

Peasants.

So you save a Euro but it costs you 2 hours of your life.

Like those plebs who queue for petrol on budget night when it goes up a cent

Queues out the fucking door in Prestos. To Arthur!

Time is cheap in Kilbarrack, mate.

I understand the concept of wanting to get fish & chips for a reduced price, but it becomes ridiculous when your queuing down the street to do so and waiting an age. A fairly simple yet profitable idea for the Chippers guild though, you can never refuse the custom of even the dumbest in society.

There was one hell of a massive queue outside Burdocks in Christchurch earlier

That’s a regular enough occurrence.

True but this one was going way off down the hill. I was even tempted to take a photo of it on my phone but then realised I couldn’t be bothered

The one in Dundrum was back to the church

stay out of places like Dundrum or any leafy South Dublin suburb…you don´t belong there mate…you´re nothing more than a farmhand… a very bitter one at that…

People are mad, what are you saving 4 quid? As fagan implied earlier you’d want to be valuing your time at nothing.
Great gimmick for the chippers though selling god only knows what as cod and letting on people are getting a deal

They’ll be fairly big if you keep feeding them fish and chips

KC’s in Douglas was a pleasant surprise. Grub was top class.
