Where is Laois?
Some fairly precious types were well and truly wound up today. The level of seethingness on the board reached a peak today. Rock in particular lost his reason big time.
They just need to chill.

Cian Foley does his own thing.

A credit to his native county
Who’s Cian Foley?
Art’s younger brother, he is a big fan of carrots
I know who he’s not
I heard he was a racist
Who? KKCat? Lord Trimble of the Internet? Mulcair? Wait a minute, aren’t they all the same?
He’s not this fella anyways:
Vincent is fuming over book on Dise slang
THE new book by the man behind the Up the Deise website has been dubbed crude trash by an octogenarian city hotelier who says it gives the impression that Waterford people are inarticulate and retarded.
Vincent OToole, the flamboyant owner of the citys Maryland premises, has lambasted Foleys Deise Dictionary of Waterford Slang which was officially launched in Dublin last Friday by illusionist Keith Barry.
But the Waterford News & Star can confirm that the businessman has also urged RTE Radio 1 to row back on plans to interview Cian Foley in the city this morning (Wednesday).
From 9 to 10am, the Ryan Tubridy Show is broadcasting from City Square Shopping Centre and Cian Foley was due to introduce the radio presenter, live on-air, to some of the choice phrases in his book.
However, yesterday evening (Tuesday), the larger than life character, who is well known in racing circles, faxed a letter to the shows producers urging them to ditch the slot.
The instigator of this crude booklet maintains that whenever visitors to Waterford meet the natives they will need the help of this pathetic so-called dictionary to understand what language the Waterfordians are trying to speak, wrote OToole.
It is scurrilous to indicate that the people of Waterford are so inarticulate and retarded that they cannot make themselves understood without the help of Cian Foleys notebook of crude trash.
It is absolutely inexcusable to stigmatise Waterford people who are usually friendly and talkative as being some kind of ignorant imbeciles incapable of making themselves understood unless they resort to the use of crude expressions. OToole, who has been at the helm of The Maryland for many years, said that Waterford had produced many great people down through the decades such as the worlds greatest tragedian actor Charles Edmond Keane, Irelands best musical composer William Vincent Wallace, architect John Roberts and celebrated entertainers like Val Doonican, Gilbert OSullivan and Bredan Bowyer.
Waterfords achievements rather than any perceived shortcomings should be lauded and given genuine prominence, said the man who championed the cause of William Vincent Wallace.
It would seem to me that Cian Foley is seeking the short cut to fame through sensationalism and crude headlines. He maintains he aspires to gaining university status for Waterford but how can he do this if at the same time he is hell-bent on depriving its citizens of their cultural status within an enlightened society?
Cian Foley was not available for comment as we went to press last night despite repeated efforts by the Waterford News & Star to contact him.
The Deise Dictionary of Waterford Slang is proving to be a hit both in shops locally and on the Up The Deise website where it is retailing for 10. Cian Foley is Waterford born and set up the Up The Deise website back in May 2004 to honour the exploits of Waterford senior hurlers.
He posted up a few fun doctored images of the players along with a few jokes and a bit of slang. But he got such great feedback that he decided to extend the site and within a few months it had hundreds of members.
Its now a community website for Waterford containing facts and information on places to visit locally, the lyrics of Waterford songs, Waterford jokes, pictures, and a message board.
