Ciaran Carey

a cunt of a man & a simpleton

The Patrickswell club man is widely regarded as one of the greatest hurlers ever to don the green and white of Limerick, and is often referred to as the greatest player never to win an All Ireland medal .

He made his intercounty debut in 1989 and won his first All-Star in '92 following Limerick’s winning of National Hurling League crown. He was on the losing side in both the '94 and '96 All Irelands, losing to Offaly and Wexford respectively.

He retired having won 3 all stars.

In an unexpected move he returned to the intercounty fold in 2008 and helped Limerick to an All Ireland Intermediate Final but again Carey left empty handed as Kilkenny took the crown.

He is a legend among men and his single-handed battles with the evil empires of Tepp and Carrrk in 1997 and 1998 echo Cuchulainn’s feats.

Legend has it the great man once ate three hundred cream pies before a match and still went out and scored 3-10.
