Fair enough.
I buy it though that’s all that matters.
That’s great for you. Well done.
Cheers Bandage. Hope you and yours are keeping well.
For you maybe, but most people, especially Tipp people don’t give a fuck about it. Won’t be long until all thats remembered is Tipp winning, and possibly that Corbett got 3 goals.
He was picked ahead of Hogan earlier in the year when both fit.
Yeah people are going to forget that one of the greatest ever players tore his cruciate alright and went off injured after 15 mins. I’m sure it will never be talked about in years to come.
The way Tipp played yesterday it would be hard to imagine Kilkenny beating them, but with all KK’s best players at their disposal, there’s that question mark there for me is all I’m saying. Tipp should have won last year also but KK hauled them back in the last 10 mins.
I think Clare’s victory in 1995 has an asterix next to it cos their goal was a clear square ball, of course it is commonly accepted Wexford’s victory in 1996 has an asterix as they made bits of Limerick’s star player’s fingers.
Fuck the asterix and move on.
Don’t think there can be an asterix after that match yesterday at all. Tipp were by far the better team. Injuries are a fact of sport and Shefflin going off does not generate any sort of question mark for me anyway.
As Bandage said, there was certainly a question mark over Kilkenny’s win last year given the fact that it shouldn’t have been a penalty. Remember that Shefflin was on the pitch for the whole 70 last year and Tipperary should have won. Tipp were better this year so that makes me think that even if Kilkenny had Shefllin it wouldn’t have made any real difference.

A fully fit Shefflin wouldn’t have made a difference but you can’t be sure of that either way.
He’s the type of player that can make that difference. He was the difference against Galway for example last year, when those around him did not perform.
It’s like Barcelona without Messi,
Ireland without Keane,
Leinster without O’Driscoll
Tipperary without Corbett
They are all players that make a difference.
Injury is part and parcel of sport no doubt but I’m merely raising the point of a different scenario that may have unfolded. For all their dominance yesterday, they still allowed a misfiring team back into the game a couple of times. Times like that you need a player that makes a difference.
Will you go away you clown, the goal in 1995 was no more a sqaure ball…Taeffe was easily two or three yards outside the square when he hit it…
A great day yesterday for Tipperary, the winning of the game for me was the early goal, it put KK on the back foot straight away and although they showed tremendous courage to get back on level terms after half time Tipp were able to kick on and keep them at arms length for the rest of the game.
For years now Tipp have always had the hurlers capable of winning the AI but yesterday they had the men, they never took a backwards step.
Kudos to KK though they never stopped even though the tide was against them.
An epic night was had in the Burlo last night, I’m off in a while for more hints
I am surprised to see it has yet to be mentioned on here yet but there was one main aspect of the gam in which Tipp dominated and this was the main reason they won the game, thy simply shortened the grip on their hurleys far better than kilkenny
ps. Asterix me bollix
Pikeman you’re way off here. An astrix is put beside sporting achievements in the cases of suspected drug taking and the like. Shefflin will be retired soon enough, are you going to put an astrix beside any All-Ilreand won while he’s alive?
What odds on KK for next year? they are automatically my favourites now with the inevitable head size explosion in Tipperary. I’m going to have a strong look at Galway next weekend in the U-21 as well, word has it that most (not all i believe) Tipp U-21’s are on the piss again today after last night. Declan Moffett may be more informed.
Puke - You’ll win nothing without shortening the grip on your hurling, Tipp have clearly been working on this.
It was said last night that Tipps U21’s would be on the piss today, Padraic Maher said it in his semi pissed state. I’m hearing the final is to be moved also.
No asterix after anything there yesterday. Fantastic win for Tipp after a ferocious effort. Kilkenny had too many passengers in the forwards yesterday. I had a bad feeling when I spotted Noel Hickey being dragged out around midfield in the opening minutes.
Huh? What do you mean-if KK win an All-Ireland and Shefflin is in his 60’s or something???
I don’t think I’m way off at all. A lot of games have their ‘What ifs’, (What if that penalty wasn’t awarded last year for example, what if someone other than Shefflin took the peno)
Shefflin injury is one of mine this year and numerous others I don’t doubt.

That was a surprise to me as the KK backs usually hold their positions.
Especially the full-back Mullach and it was a tactic that obviously worked given the number of goals scored and Hickeys all-round poor display
