I presume Tipp will be doing or have already done the usual Monday stop off in Rodys today?
The asterix hasn’t been mentioned in a while. Have you just decided to forget that.
Shefflin’s injury was a blow to Kilkenny but in no way does it tarnish Tipps win in any way.
 *
*Childish
As I have said already, Tipp totally deserved their win on the day. By far the better team.
Don’t think it’s much of a stretch for me to raise the question of Shefflin’s injury though and what may have been.
I’m surprised by the bitterness coming from ‘some’ of the Kilkenny folk around here.
I mean if my aunt had balls she would be my uncle, asterix or no asterix, but she doesn’t… I hope.
I think KK genuinely feared Lar Corbett, I’ve never seen Hickey move from the edge of the square for anyone.
Last year’s all-ireland, although KK won, showed Tipp the way to beat KK.
They learned their lesson.
That was one tough game yesterday…
I dunno, if Pikeman wants to put an asterix beside it in his recollection, then surely its right to do so? Not sure why so many are getting on his back over it.
Said it during the game yesterday, the respect you’d have for any man who could carry himself out there in that sort of pressure is huge. Not sure how many here would suffer from nerves before any sort of game, but I’d imagine if you suffered from nerves before a game, yesterday must have been unlike anything you’ll ever experience before or again. Huge respect to every man out there.

Did you mean like this Pikeman?
Exactly. Just saying is all.
And I believe it to be Asterisk and not the French cartoon character.
No. Just cleared that up for anyone that was confused.
Thanks, as I stated previously, best of luck in the camogie.
Much appreciated Mull. Hope all our players and their players are fit.
Sure if that was the case, there would be no such thing as an argument.
I just found it pretty baffling to be honest to somehow diminish Tipp’s achievement yesterday by bringing up Shefflin’s injury.
A few other thoughts of mine:
- Tipperary don’t have a great record of putting back-to-back titles together in modern times; they’re too much of a group of pissheads and fair play to them.
- Kilkenny squad depth has been lauded by all and sundry for years but myself and a respected forum member (Appendage  ) always considered them to be very reliant on their 3 or 4 truly great players; i.e. Hickey, Walsh, Delaney and Shefflin. Our take on it was that you probably need to negate the impact of at least 3 of the 4 of them to be in within a chance of beating them. Yesterday 3 of them weren’t themselves for one reason or another (Hickey – exposed, Walsh – neutralised, Shefflin – injured).
- I was surprised by Cody’s decision to replace TJ Reid; he should have done better with that first half goal chance but had got a couple of points from play and looked lively enough.
- There’s been lots of talk on here of Kilkenny retaining their defensive shape at all times so it was indeed surprising to see Hickey dragged away from goal. Liam Rushe burning him way back in the Leinster semi-final on one occasion hinted at a weakness that Tipperary exposed.
- Eddie Brennan was very disappointing. He’d developed a real hard edge over recent years but he looked nervous yesterday, which was reminiscent of some of his early work for Kilkenny.
- Kilkenny need a new ‘keeper, I believe.
But shur its his right to do so, he’s not trying to convince anyone else here to. As for diminishing the achievement, isnt that what everyone did to Kilkenny’s title last year (yourself included) by claiming the penalty wasn’t a penalty?
I doubt Tipp folk give a flying fuck about astericks (or whatever the plural of it is) or anything else. And fair fucks to them.
Re Bandage and Tipp being pissheads, all I have for that is and
Fuck this, I’m off to Thurles, good luck and thanks…

How is it baffling? It’s a genuine what if? You think it shouldn’t be brought up at all then yeah?
It would have been an even greater acheivement had they beaten a fully fit Kilkenny team-ie the greatest team of all time.
Perhaps next year.
Fair fucks to Tiipp. Thought they were immense yesterday…best forward play I’ve ever seen in my lifetime. Haven’t been too many better goals than the one Noel McGrath made for Corbett. Shefflin looked completely out of sorts from the very start. Wasn’t moving comfortably at all. I don’t what that clown Barry Henriques was watching at that training session. A credit to Kilkenny that they were still in the hunt near the end. Have to say though, seeing one of the greatest hurlers of his or any generation lifting Liam McCarthy was a fitting end to the day.

Donal O Grady said he saw nothing wrong with Shefflin at that training either, that he was moving effortlessly and that perhaps the conditions made it more difficult yesterday which is entirely possible.
