Clare Gaa šŸ Thread mark II

Broadford and the Bridge have gone to penalties in the Intermediate semi after extra time still couldnt separate the sidesā€¦

Some good quarter finals in Clare. Probably the best club senior championship around.

It was a fairly young clonlara team that lost yesterday, a bit of a changing of the guard, they will be a competitive side at senior level for the foreseeable future. Think only Conlon and Cormac Oā€™Donovan of the 2007/2008 team started yesterday.

There are a lot of factors at play but the genesis of it for me comes down to poor managerial appointments and their removals which led to bad blood and lads who were related to management getting the hump and showing apathy ever since. A few of the more talented lads are not the most committed/manageable and the side lacks real leadership outside of a couple of the bigger names. Shame really but despite the talent there for the last 6 or 7 years they consistently came up short when the going got tough.

Who knew @Perez2017 was this lad

Very good standard too.

Peter Duggan going to Australia for a year

Reading over the thread, Iā€™d have to agree.

Am hoping Sixmilebridge do it this year for my auld pal Joe Player

Going off to learn how to be a landscaper

pretty big loss for Clare

Clare any new forwards to come in and fill the gap?

Iā€™m hearing Tony Kelly might be back playing next year.

Oh, thatā€™s lovely

Some very nice hurlers aged between 16 and 20 coming through. Problem is the crop aged 21 to 25 and a number of lads from the 2013 who look like they have little hunger any more. I have a lot of time for Donal Moloney but he is probably too loyal to the 2013 group they brought through at underage, we need a change of management to shake things up and try and get a few lads back focused or at least under pressure for their places.

Problem is that we have a bollocks of a county secretary who has far too much power and and a complete shoneen of a chairman who wont challenge him. We are three months out of the championship with a management team whos term is up and the county board have shown little interest in sounding out alternatives. Moloney will probably get a two year term with a new backroom team and will in essence be a dead duck/place holder manager until Pat can get his little prince back in as manager in 2021 or 2022 as the next decent crop of underage talent comes on stream and Davy can tell us all again how he came in and took over a team going nowhere and improved them.

Moloney deserves better for his service over the years. His time has ran its course but the county board have pretty much alienated any other credible replacement in the county like Daly or Lohan. While Pat would have little interest in handing over money to an outside man and would rather stockpile it for Davyā€™s homecoming. It is fairly disheartening, wouldnā€™t be surprised if a few more of the current panel walked away over the winter.
