How much did this cost?

I believe it hit just over the €1,000,000 mark. Work has been ongoing since about March.

Roche (Pharma company that closed down) gave them more than half towards it. A lot came from private investors too.

It’s a business venture rather than a pitch for the Club. I think Clare GAA have priority on it 1 day a week. Anyone, including Clarecastle GAA teams wanting to use it, need to ‘pay’ the club to use it if that makes sense. That’s why some of the posts online about it being ‘great to improve grassroots’ etc. aren’t correct. Underagers etc. will rarely get a look in when Adult Teams/Intercounty Seasons are ongoing.

A lot of places do that (run the facility as a standalone company) as it allows them to access different types of Government funding/supports.

Yeh makes sense. It’s just that narrative that gets around by your Derek Former’s and Derrick Lynch’s of the world that it’s amazing news for Clarecastle’s grassroots is wrong.

What it’s great news for is the County to finally have a full-sized all weather, and the gas thing is not even in the miserable Caherlohan.

Did they not get a load of funding from the Irish passport scheme, I think Louth GAA have done something similar?

Yes - money for it came from Investment, Funding and Roche (if that counts as funding rather than an obligation).

The club itself didn’t put any money into it as far as I know. The land wasn’t paid for by them either.

Ya they did. A shitload.

Could anyone confirm for me that John Conneely (Clooney Quin) was born in 2003?
