While there are 31 involved a good number are hangers on like the 5 or 6 former refd who take turns hauling gear around the place while the likes of Fergal Lynch, Mike Deegan and the stats men are only involved on match days. The likes of Mark Dunphy, Davy’s father and his son would also be included in the 31 so make of it as you will.
I think a lot of this is to do with optics. Davy secured serious funding/sponsorship from a number of doners abroad, mainly in North America and I think it suits him to have it out in the public domain that we have this massive backroom team and their money is being put to use and is badly needed when it could just as easily be going straight into Davy’s pocket for all anyone knows
