Bugler got it for inter county midfield? Wouldnt have thought so? No Clon man on it puke, forgive me ignorance, but what gives?
We have 4 on the panel…One started last week (john conlon)and three more came off the bench MBB(the O Donovan twins and Nickey O Connell)…I would expect John Conlon to nail down a starting wing forward slot come June…
As for Bugler, he played midfield in 2007 and wasn’t half bad, a good athlete who can mix it physically, plays midfield for Whitegate…I reckon he is worth a go at full back, did all his underage hurling in the full back line, probably being used in the midfield til BOC and Clancy return from Oz…Cathal Dillon is not up to championship huring IMO, but he probably deserves a chance as he had a very good year with Crusheen…
Niall Gilligan has commited to Clare for another season despite speculation that he would walk away…Every member of last years panel has made themselves available this season apart from Frank Lohan…
Clare take on LIT in Meelick sunday at 2 o clock, It will be a tough game for Clare as LIT hav the likes of Joe Canning, Seamus Callinan, Pa Bourke and Will Hyland in their ranks along with a Clare contingent of James Macinerney, Bernard Gaffney, Blaine Earley, Eamonn Glynn and James Gunning…Gerry Quinn is unavailable for Clare but Paddy Markham should play some part…
Gilligan was as good as ever last year. Good to see him back again. Isnt he just one goal or something away from being Clares
record goalscorer. A lot of bull gets written about players once they hit their 30s. No reason why an injury free and dedicated player cant play till the age of 35 or more. Names like Del Perio, Maldini, Dean Widness spring to mind
Yeah I think he is one goal off beating Jimmy Smyth’s record of goals for Clare…He is due to get married soon enough and I presume he thought he would mightn’t be able to commit, he is an auctioneer, so I would say he has plenty of free time on his hands at the moment;)…
He is still worth his place, had a great year last year, seems to be able to win ball and his shooting has improved…Hopefully we can unearth a corner forward or two to help him
Big win today…Tony Carmody and Tony Griffin were both excellent in the forwards for Clare…Carmody hit 3 lovely points including an absolute monster from inside his own half…LIT played with a strong breeze first half and led by 4 at the break, but the bad weather and a soft pitch suited the Clare backs who had too much physically for the LIT forwards…LIT had a 21 yard free with a couple of minutes to go, Seamus Callinan took it but it was a poor enough effort easily saved by Donal Touhy…
Conor Hassett had a good game in midfield scored a couple of lovely points, while the half backline was solid, the conditios suited Conor Plunkett who had a good battle with Callinan…Apart from Callinan and Canning the LIT forwards looked light weight…
A very positive result and I reckon we could have a very good league campaign as lads seem to be up for it this year and the commitment and belief seems to be there and that is half the battle

beating a college team isnt a big win:rolleyes:
what exactly are you basing the bit in bold on- todays victory against some spotty geeks?

Consiering that LIT had the likes of Seamus Calinan and Joe Canning playing for them and have been in 3 of the last 5 fitzgibbon finals(winning two) and every lad that started for them today had hurled at least under 21’s with their county last year so I would hardly call them a shower of spotty geeks ncc…Also the fact that LIT have been training fairly hard since October while Clare have had only 4 collective training sessions and were missing a good few front line players but dug deep to win the game…
Clare are leading WIT 2-08 to 5 points at half time in meelick…Clare played with a strong breeze in the first half…
Clare team is:
Brennan
McMahon-Dillon-GOG
Donnellan-Plunkett-Hawes
Hassett-Bugler
Ryan-Griffin-Carmody
Nugent-Morey-Markham
Markham and nugent with the goals…Markham’s coming in the opening 10 seconds
Final score: Clare 2-12 WIT 1-12
Colin Lynch and Clancy made their reappearances…Good win for the banner…Now play either Tipp or UL in the final next week
Clare will take on Tipp in the waterford crystal final next sunday after tipp overcame UL on a scoreline of 3-09 to 1-08…
I would like us to win this as the last two winners of it have gone onto win the munster title the same year

Do you know is there a venue for this final? It was played in Templemore last year.
On another note, what are Clare doing still persisting with Conor Plunkett at centre back? Surely there are better options.
Gerry Quinn
Brendan Bugler
James Mc from NOF

The final is down for Meelick 2 p.m next sunday…As for Plunkett presume he is just there seeing that Quinn has been struggling with a bug the past few weeks and James mac was hurling with LIT…Quinn will be the first choice come the league
Meelick, is that the pitch just outside Limerick city near Moyross?
I think I was there before two years ago for a Waterford Crystal game vs Clare as well. I remember a hardy small lad called Brigdale (Crusheen I think) wearing ash of Lar the whole day.

Thats the one…A fine pitch for winter hurling, twas like a carpet last week for the Clare v LIT match…That would be alan brigdale from crusheen alright, he would be well knwn for his timber merchant ways…Crusheen somehow managed to convert him into a scoring full forward this season, god ony knows how…
What part of tipp you from Fat Pox…
I’d fancy Clare for the All-Ireland every year if the latter stages of the championship were played in January and February.
The conditions are generally ideal for their physical, brute force, lack of finesse ‘brand’ of hurling.
They might get the better of Tipp next week but they shouldn’t be a factor in the Munster Championship, unless there’s a significant acceleration in climate change brought about by global warming between now and then.

We had little or no problem in hammering Wexford in 2002, 2005 and 2006 all on lovely sunny days if my memory serves me right bandage:p
Wexford have been shit for over a decade Puke.

Yeah, its a good open field. It has a good viewing area on the road side. Would be lovely if there was a stand there.
Will be interesting to see how Tipp shape up in a good field. Their last two games have been played in bogs.
From the west of the county. I’ll leave the rest of the guesswork up to you. My username should be enough for you. Probably the best hurler to come out of our parts.
Yet you seem to see it as a devine right to slag off the finest set of hurlers we have had in the county for 20 years(Mike Mac’s words not mine)
For whom it may concern the Clare V Tipperary Waterford Crystal Cup final has been moved to Ogonnolloe this coming sunday throw in 2 p.m…
Clare take on Waterford in a challenge match in Cahir saturday, so all the panel should get a a decent bit of game time at the weekend…Team for the final won’t be named til before the match…
My selection:
Brennan
McMahon-Dillon-GOG
Donnellan-Quinn-Hawes
Bugler-Hassett
Conlon-Griffin-Carmody
Ryan-Morey-Gilligan
