A band from Galway have a song called The Tony Keady Affair

The production values arenā€™t the best :grinning: but itā€™s sort of like something the Sultans of Ping or The Hitchers might have written.

Heaven has gained a great centre back. RIP

This is genuinely sad. I assume he was as he seemed. Independant, wise and healthy???

A real warrior.

We get that fucking muppet McGregor instead of the likes of Keady. Its fucked up.

Ah no, thatā€™s awful sad news. RIP Tony Keady

Itā€™s not all doom and gloom. Gerry Ryan is dead but John Creedon is still alive.

Jesus that brought a tear to my eye reading that.
Hogan tries in a sneaky way to exonerate Tipp a couple of times however and thatā€™s the only weakness of a great piece.

RIP.

Why? 'Cos he tells the truth and it destroys the myth that has fuelled embitterment for nearly three decades?

Incredibly, while Tipp would vote for Keadyā€™s reinstatement through their county secretary Tommy Barrett, it was subsequently revealed that four Connacht Central Council delegates voted against.

And, ultimately, the appeal was lost 20-18, Keady ā€“ essentially ā€“ let down by his own province.

No age. Gone too soon. His legacy and feats will live on.

Itā€™s a pity thereā€™s no Galway posters here to give it the local personal touch.
Conor Hayes said nice things, a great hurler of course but a real family man as well.

The truth is Tipperary reported him in the first place. What they did after was sleeveenism and irrelevant really.
Hogan has two attempts in that article, from the mawkish made up bullshit about a chainsaw on the Tipp bus to the vote story, to promote his own county and make them out to be innocent of any wrong doing to Tony Keady.

A classy hurler who was as tough as fuck. The sort of lad youā€™d always want on your side cos heā€™d break himself in half for the team. His dual with Mulcahy in the 1990 final was brilliant. RIP.

Did Mark Foley not play at 11 in 90?
Mulcahy was 11 in 86 as far as I remember, scored a goal in both those finals, super goal in 86.

The ā€œTipperaryā€ club in New York. Probably made up of lads from all over the country, including lads from their neighbouring Connacht counties who were seething that they couldnā€™t win an all Ireland in hurling or football

Foley started at 11. For most of the 2nd half, he was wing forward, Ger Fitzgerald corner forward and Mulcahy on the '50.
