So it seems the issues with Travellers is not when they were travelling the highways and byways of the country, it is when they stopped and settled in the area when things went to shite?
When you start giving people free stuff with no questions asked it tends to get out of control after a while.

Education is a huge thing in relation to the traveller/non-traveller divide.
Why is it that non-traveller kids have to go to second level while traveller kids don’t seem to have to? The very system is racist.
I remember them well, daycent folk. They’d ramble out as far as us and fix oul’ buckets and gallons and smoke fags and he’d drink a whiskey. But that was then and this is now.
Progress, or what passes for it, lead to mobility and with it opportunity. The rest is history.
Ah yeah, sure that makes the auld racism acceptable then, sure every last one of them is off robbing houses and beating up the elderly nowadays

I was in primary with travellers from.dual carriageway near coonagh. There was one who struck fear into all of us. Violent fucker, Johnny. Must have been 15/16 in 6 class and eldest of all the travellers too. Every lunch break involved him bating someone or chasing someone to bate them.
When he left (i won’t say graduated) the other travellers left were grand. Absolute sound. Started playing in the school football team, not an ounce of trouble. Would see them every once in and whole and chat, some have now settled in Westbury.
So, bad egg had them all down as bad eggs. With him gone, they were grand to a man.
How very metaphorical I feel this evening.

Not every traveller is at it, but I would say the majority of rural crime is committed by travellers and there is absolutely fuck all done about it.
