What did he do?
A bit of a lunge forward with the head. I’ve seen worse in Copper’s. Great game that.
No idea. He won’t need a shower anyway, he’s hardly had time to work up a sweat.
All over WYT. Ballyhale win 19 to 17
Fixed that for ya
What a retard of a ref. Fucking hell.
TJ Reid catching that puck out after Newtown made it a one point game was the winning of it. Newtown forwards too reliant on soft ball. In general they wouldn’t have a hope of competing against the physicality of Portumna. Ballyhale might but they won’t beat them either.
Topes lose topes lose…sound for that lads, great in running commentary it must be said
Newtown shot their load in the third quarter it must be said. Ballyhale were savage tough in the middle third. Anything that hit the ground had three Ballyhale lads standing over it before the Newtown reinforcements would arrive. The Brian Cody doctrine. As effective as their possession game can be, Newtown were short a few old fashioned ball winners.
It’ll be close enough in the final I’d say. Portumna weren’t too impressive against Dunloy.
Portumna are phenomenal in Croker though. Great final match up after last year’s one sided affair.
ballyhale seem to have very slow backs…newtown shud have ran at them more…portumna’s corner forward Hayes cud have a field day against them in croker…
Sure all newtown can do is run at you. If they’re not doing that they’re not doing anything. I was seriously impressed by Ballyhale’s workrate in the middle third in particular. They must be very fit to have kept it up as long as they did. Portumna have much more bulk though and I don’t see Ballyhale cutting off the supply anything like the way they did yesterday. Even if they did, Portumna’s forwards have always been capable of winning their own ball. I can’t see them being beaten anyway.
newtown didn’t run at ballyhale enough i thought…if they did they would have beaten them…naughton was running off down the sidelines and up his own hole instead of diretly through the ballyhale defense…i thought ballyhale looked very sluggish around the middle in second half …there was a stage in for about 10 minutes where ballyhale couldn’t win a ball…centre back is seriously slow…king henry didn’t stand beside mulcahy for one ball…he was hoping for one to break out to him out the wing which in fairness eventually he got…but newtown were cleaning up around the middle for a long period in second half…
Good win for NUIG over CIT in the Fitzgibbon Cup today, coming back from 4 or 5 down at one stage to win it by a similar margin. John Conlon back from injury scored the crucial goal with his first touch after coming off the bench. Any other results?
WTF? I was told he broke him ankle?!
Rumours of his demise have been greatly exaggerated. Puke told me last night that he’d be back training in a few weeks so I was surprised to see him myself. Looked mobile enough as well. Nuig attack was a different animal with him on the edge of the square. Some way to mark your comeback.
Pukes a damn liar.
NUIG lucky enough today, Cork boys didnt want to know about it when it got close in last quarter. NUIG going nowhere fast with that full back line and their shooting was awful. Strong spine with Lee and Coone, DOD also had an excellent game and Conlon made big difference.
WTB, what the hell is the story with the power lines going straight over the pitch… Every game i’ve ever been to the ball has hit them. Today ref threw ball in, another day he wouldn’t…
Good few swans have met their demise crashing into the power lines over that pitch.
First night back training tonight. I have a feeling I’m going to be sore in the morning.
Funny alright. They’ve been there as long as I can remember anyway, no one pays much attention to them anymore.
I wasn’t there for the start today but from the team sheet there was an awful lot of changes on the nuig team. Overall they were a lot better than the DIT game I thought, the second half in particular. Paul Nihill was full-back the first day so I don’t know if he was injured or had a bad day against UCD. They’re lacking someone to take charge of things there alright. There are a lot of good players for the half-bak line but they seem very unsure about what to do with midfield. Wouldn’t really be in favour of DoD being put there but there’s no sign of Cormac yet sp maybe he’s the only option.
Of the forwards Coone is the main threat alright, and he missed 3 or 4 frees today that he’ll hardly miss again. Apart from that though there’s no one that’ll pose a major threat bar Conlon, and whether he’ll be fit enough for a full match anytime soon is questionable. They’ve topped the group now anyway and I’d fancy them to beat whoever they have next. With the weekend on their home patch they might shock someone, even if going all the way is probably beyond them.
Have you a stair-lift?
