Club Championships 2018

And the village idiot is here to try hard again.

If there was only some measurable way to determine the two most successful club championships… Ah well, i guess your braindead feelings on the matter can decide it

Do you really think Galway is in the top 2 club championships as of right now?

Absolutely, no stand out team like there has been on occasion, even enough so any of 7/8 teams can win and compete at all ireland level. Nothing suggests any other counties is ahead of it, outside of cuala, na pairsigh, ballygunner theres nothing else in those counties, other counties are also rans in this discussion, through total non performance.

Could they throw all the champions of the Liam McCarthy cup counties, or league division 1 ones, into some sort of open draw?

You’re excluding some of the good Ulster clubs then, who have had their best days in this competition.

Seems a bit unfair on Antrim whose clubs have been in more finals than four (4) of the Munster hurling superpowers.

There will be fuck all structural change to the club championship . It is seen by Croke Park suits as a twee nuisance that generates fuck all dosh .

There was a tiny crowd there Sunday tbh . A few reasons for that but the only change will be a January final .

The All Ireland club championship is a grand competition but the respective county championships will always matter more outside of a few elite clubs

Certainly true in counties that don’t have / never had elite clubs.

Its true for any club that doesn’t win their county championship nearly every year. Ballygunner, Na Piarsaigh, Thurles Sars (not saying they are good enough to win an All Ireland before you jump on that), etc.

Cuala, na pairsaigh, ballygunner and ballyhales top 4. Galway champs miles off any of those teams.

A Sunday fixture makes a big difference in terms of crowds, people over-reacting a bit to this year’s figure I think.

The club finals are paradoxically best served by a mid week fixture . Rednecks don’t go home , fellas might go to croker rather than on the piss after parade as work next day . Also this year there was clubs from Kerry , Galway & Kilkenny , counties that regularly have days out in croker .
