Draw between Ballyfin and Killeshin, do it all again Wednesday

Mate of mine who was at it saying there were 13 minutes of injury time during which there were four sending offs and Portlaoise got the scores to pull it out of the fire.

Still no Brody, they’ll go nowhere in Leinster without him

Ballyfin have a Senior A Hurling so final this weekend, they could have done without this going to a replay

Rumblings that Ballinkillen have been thrown out of the Carlow Senior Hurling Championship over non-fulfillment of today’s semi final against St Mullins even though St Mullins had agreed to Ballinkillen request for a postponement. A shambles.

I suppose it’s not up to the clubs to decide between themselves whether they play or not at this time of the year. Deadlines need to be met etc

STATEMENT ON BEHALF OF BALLINKILLEN GAA
Sunday, 29 September

This is a statement on behalf of Ballinkillen GAA to clarify the reasons for the postponement of today’s senior hurling semi-final, scheduled for Netwatch Cullen Park at 3:30pm vs Naomh Moling.

Last Sunday, the club learned via social media that the intermediate football semi-final between Kildavin and Naomh Eoin had been scheduled for the preceding Saturday evening, September 28, at 6:00pm. On confirming this report, we immediately contacted the County Board with request that either of these fixtures be re-scheduled. There are five Ballinkillen hurlers involved with the Kildavin panel and the club took the view that to ask players to play two important matches within 18 hours of one another was unjust, against player welfare and against the player development pathway.

Given the fact that only five weekends had been set aside all year as hurling weeks it is unprecedented that a senior hurling semi-final would be disrupted in this way. It is one thing for a football fixture to encroach on a Monday or Tuesday of a hurling week, but for a match involving senior and intermediate hurlers to be re-fixed the evening before a senior semi-final is unacceptable.

This weekend should have been a special occasion for our club. Ballinkillen has not reached a senior final for several years, and a huge amount of voluntary work has been put in at juvenile level and with this group of players in order to make progress. It is deeply disappointing to us that team preparations have been disrupted all week, culminating in this morning’s announcement that the senior semi-final has been postponed.

We have communicated to the County Board all week, up to and including late last night, attempting to find a resolution. Alternative dates were proposed that would allow both fixtures go ahead without compromising player welfare. Unfortunately, none of these suggestions have been taken on board. We have therefore informed the County Board that we cannot fulfill today’s fixture and have again requested the fixture to be rescheduled. We take this decision in the interests of player welfare and for the greater good of Carlow hurling and appeal to the better judgement of the County Board.

Le meas,
CLG Baile an Chuilinn

Sounds like they are well in the right there tbf. Some fucking awkward cunt in the county board now doing the bollox

The key line in the statement is just five weeks set aside in the year as club hurling weekends and they fuck in an intermediate football semi final less than 24 hours before a senior hurling semi final. This kind of fuck acting by the County Board with hurling is a large part of the reason why the likes of Naomh Brid have collapsed as a senior hurling club and why Bagenalstown have dropped back to intermediate.

Trying to force fellas to play twice in a weekend and it nearlt october and the sitting on their holes all summer

Back down the road after being in Ballycastle today. Senior final was very even i thought but Dunloy’s pace gave them the edge. Always good to score 2 quick goals but to do it in the last 5 mins will help you.

Slaughtneil won in Derry but i heard Kevin Lynches pushed them all the way. All set up for a Dunloy Slaughtneil showdown in Ulster.

Disappointing day for Ballycastle in our first minor final in 29 years. Even more disappointing to lose to that shower of Shamrock cnuts!

Confirmed that Ballinkillen have been kicked out of the Carlow SHC.

Slaughtneil seem to have gone back a bit. Complacency maybe with 7 in a row. Ballycran won Down and they’re never a pushover. What way is the draw for Ulster? Slaughtneil gave Dunloy a shock 2 years ago with their physicality but Dunloy seem to be better prepared this year and I’d have them favourites.
I saw that Loughgiel minor side give Slaughtneil minors a beating a couple of months ago. Slick outfit.

Slaughtneil maybe have dropped a level but certainly Kevin Lynches are getting stronger after a few years of strong minor teams. Like all runs it will come to and end for Slaughtneil and it will probably be Lynches that do it.

Ulster draw is:
Slaughtneil v Middletown
Dunloy v Ballycran

I seen Lgiel minors destroy Cushendall a couple of months ago and they were impressive. However Ballycastle more than matched them yesterday in the 1st half but 2 goalkeeping mistakes and a player sent off don’t help. It will between the same 2 teams next year.

Killeshin edged out Ballyfin in the replay in Laois last night by 4 points. Fair result, Killeshin the better side, Ballyfin playing their 10th Championship match in 10 weeks, 5th in the last 25 or so days. On a heavy pitch against a shower of single code cunts from the Graiguecullen border, that was always going to take its toll.

Cant see Killeshin putting up much a fight against Portlaoise. They play a defensive style of play and Portlaoise can match that if they want and have done many times in the past. Portlaoise going for their 12th title in 13 years. Portlaoise have appeared in 17 of the last 20 Laois Senior Football Finals.

That’s a pity. Cuala v Vins will have the best hurler (and footballer) in Ireland on show.
