Not sure tbh. Iād imagine itās separate. From what Iāve heard that Rathmore victory yesterday would be a very popular result. They punch well above their weight albeit I passed through it during the summer and they do have a secondary school and a fine Centra so itās not a crossroads effort. I was chatting to someone who works with Paul Murphy who said you wouldnāt even know he plays county. Very humble. Rest of his siblings are doctors so heās nearly the underachiever somehow.
Kerry Senior Football Championship has 17 participants. All 9 divisional teams and 8 club teams.
10 clubs now I think. Theyāve increased the last year or two.
Ruairi Canavan on.
That was some exhibition of the skills of Gaelic football in the Breaffy Westport match.
7 point win for Errigal.
Errigal were comfortable enough after the goal in the first half and had Trillick held at arms length. Peter Harte was outstanding.
Tepid from Trillick. Mattie Donnelly and Seanie OāDonnell were hooked with 10 minutes to go and 5 in it but Trillick just looked flat all evening.
Errigal are moving nicely. The 2 Canavans still look well off it but Shea McDermott is leading that line very well. Odhran Robinson is doing very well out in the middle of the pitch and they have huge depth. Iād expect them to win Tyrone and then go and take Ulster. They have some team on paper.
2 x All Star Peter Harte
All Ireland medalists Darragh Canavan, Ben McDonnell, Darragh McAnenely, Niall Kelly
Current Tyrone senior panelists Cormac Quinn and Joe Oguz
2 u20 Footballers of the year in Ruairi Canavan and Shea McDermottt
Former Tyrone senior panelists Aidan McCrory and Ciaran McGinley
And host of other minor, u20, u21 All Ireland and Ulster winning medalists in the ranks.
Theyāll win Ulster Iād say .is Mcginley still in charge ?
Cahair OāKane said a few years ago there were 80 players of Senior Club Football standard in Errigal but my man on the ground in Ballygawley assures me itās only around 40 or 50.
Still unbelievable depth and they really need to win an All Ireland Club sooner or later now.
How good would Errigal be if the split in 80s hadnt happened?
McGinley still in charge. They will need the Canavans up to speed. Theyāve negotiated two stern enough tasks fairly comfortably. Loughmacrory look like the other form team though.
Itās a massive club area wise. Far bigger than anything else in Tyrone. Some of the town clubs would have similar picks number wise but not the same GAA imprint Omagh, Cookstown, Dungannon would all have significant non GAA playing numbers. Strabane wouldnāt be much of a GAA stronghold.
Iād imagine Ballygawley would still be a senior club as they would be the bigger of the two. Glecull would be very small but due to the Canavans and Hartes they would likely still have been a senior club for much of the last 20 years.
Errigalās decline has been greatly exaggerated. Thatās a statement win. Trillick must be kicking themselves they didnāt win out last year having beaten Errigal in the semi-final. With Loughmacrory possibly developing into a major force theyāll hardly have another chance to win out again in the near to medium term future? That Trillick team has been knocking around for a decade or more Iād say?
They have been around the block a while but only really the two Donnellys and Rory Brennan in their 30s. They lack that star quality though. Plenty of decent players coming through but nobody close to Mattie Donnelly.
Neither of the Grays featured tonight. They have a lot of decent samey type players but they donāt have that craft and quality Errigal have in the Canavans, Harte and McDermott.
Donaghmore are building a serious team as well. The Tyrone u20 teams have been backboned over the past few years by Donaghmore. Cush, Cassidy, Joey Clarke, Conor OāNeill, Noah Grimes and Ben Hughes have all been prominent players in that success so Iād expect them to pick up 1 or 2 in the next 5 years.
Carrickmore are also success starved. No title in close to 20 years.
Donāt see Edendork winning it. Just donāt think they have enough depth and too reliant on McCurry to cook to win games. Conn is in some vein of form though.
2005 since Carrickmore last won out which is also the last time a team retained the title.
I recall the talk of an Ulster curse in terms of teams never retaining the Ulster Championship but that was only 20 years between 1976 and 1996. 21 years with no back to back winner is some tribute to the competitiveness of the Tyrone championship.
Trillick won Championships in 2015, 2019 and 2023 along with League Titles in 2022, 2023 and 2025 which was a good innings to be fair.
Iād imagine theyād have dearly loved to have won the 2025 title as a tribute to Jody Gormley but it wasnāt to be.
The defending Ulster champions Scotstown?
What grade are their second side?
Apart from that one, obviously
