Congress 2017 - Super 8 Wars! Edit

Would you stop, nobody gives a fuck about stick hurling in those counties. Three quarters of the counties in Ireland have absolutely no interest in the sport, why does this basic fact not register with some of the guys on here?

Fagan is spot on, the resources should be spent in the hurling strongholds and not squandered in the other counties

You sink your own argument when you’re entirely wrong in your first sentence. It’d be better for the GAA if you were correct, the problem is, you’re not. If you were, then these counties would happily fuck off and the elites would be happy.

That wouldn’t even keep Davy in sliotars

The season should be split into three separate competition.

League from February to first week of April. Munster and Leinster championship played in a round robin from Mid May to the end of June in a round robin format over 6 weeks. 2 groups of six. Top two meet in the provincial final.

Play the all Ireland series then from Mid July to the end of August. 4 provincial teams get a bye to last 8 with provincial winners on either side of the draw, the 8 other teams into an open draw with the four winners going into the quarters.

Last two weeks of April/May bank holiday set aside for club champions with additional games to be played at the end of june/early July and continued on once county is eliminated. Every team is guaranteed at least two home games in the provincial championship and at a minimum half a dozen games between the middle of May and the middle of July. Team that wins the A/I would play a minimum of 9 games from mid May to late August.

Caters for both round robin and knockout hurling.

Stick Waterford into leinster, otherwise it’s too lopsided.
Tbh, nostalgia for the munster championship is holding the whole thing back. Should be torn up completely, or left as it is.

the all ireland should be all that matters, confine it to 8 assuming that system would be competitive if not reduce it reduce it reduce it until it is. if you are bate >15 points then you are gone. run it off over 8 weeks and leave it at that, those are our elite games and only our elite players should compete in them, its pointless watering that down with fuckers who cant keep up or wont keep up.
stop throwing money at those counties who cannot wash its own face. waste of good money. use that money instead on the club system, instead of giving millions to dublin to try and manufacture a hurling team give it to a hundred clubs around the country for facilities. keep making a show of the soccer crowd with very very good facilities around the country while they are togging in hazel bushes on a sunday morning. counties like leitrim, louth, longford etc give them fuckall and organise token intercounty weekend blitzes until they get their act together.

The GGA have been looking after spud hockey for over 100s years ever since the anglo irish invented it in trinners. When they took over it was popular in munster and south leinster but it hasn’t spread since and nobody gives a flying fuck about it in 3/4s of the country

the land commission and having loads of clubs and players is the reason for that mate

there is a great show tonight on TG 4 on the influence of spud hockey on Ice Hockey in Canada . Enjoy .

  • Next up is Motion 39: The Donegal motion deals with Croke Park not being allowed to be used as a home venue in inter-county Championship fixtures.

This is going nowhere

Motion 39 is defeated after a No vote of 64%.

Dissapointing decision
