I was in Kilbarrack today and I was playing this in my head walking along because there’s a big Barrytown mural at the Dart station because this song was in The Commitments.
Martha Reeves and the Vandellas - Nowhere To Run
Jagger and Bowie should have been shot for their cover of this.
This isn’t the place for this really, most fellas on here wouldn’t get this kinda stuff, but Lateralus is meant to be resequenced, and it actually workd better if you do it. There used be a video on Youtube that done it perfect I listened to the whole time instead of the album, can’t find it now, but this thread explains it.
I just can’t stand the music of ABBA. Every now and then I hear a bit that might be ok but they just don’t work for me. I’d listen to and dance to any auld shite at a wedding. But if I hear ABBA, I usually head outside for a walk or a bit of air.
I can somewhat understand the point that @Cheasty is making here, the greatest song ever would have to have a singalongability factor and would need to be easily stripped back.
Did we do something like this about 5 years ago and had a vote etc??
Surely the greatest song has to be something us mere mortals cant touch?
Why is reducing it to pub rock and karaoke the barometer for greatness? I think fagan is right and people are just trying to shoehorn absolute shite like Oasis in.
There’s some amount of sentimental ould shite in this thread. Cat Stevens and ABBA and fucking Oasis for fucks sake. I’m surprised some cunt hasn’t posted something by fucking Pearl Jam.
This is the greatest song of all time.
