It’s a bit like saying that the best joke of all time doesn’t need to have a punchline.
I could never see the attraction of The Beach Boys. They dripped saccharineness, it was almost like they were making music for advertising for middle America.
There are far greater representations through song of the 1960s West Coast idea than anything the Beach Boys did.
Claiming the best song of all time doesn’t need a tune is a bit like saying the best hurling team of all time doesn’t need to have won an All-Ireland. A bit like Waterford in the 2000s.
