Weak looking attack.
I was delighted with the appointment of Conte but I’m beginning to grow a bit disillusional with the job he has done so far. The team has been very unimpressive in qualifying (which is nothing new with Italy to be fair) but the team itself has been very unsettled in particular the attack. I think Pelle is a million miles away from being the best striker available to Italy right now and we won’t win anything with him leading the line.
Italy under Conte are truly desperate
Drawing 1-1 with Azerbaijan now, poor mistakes from Chiellini and Bonucci leading to an an Azerbaijan equaliser.
The whole team balance and selection is all wrong - we’ve just taken a 2-1 lead now through El Shaarawy but it masks our inept performances. The formations and personnel are changing every game which shows Conte hasn’t a clue what his best team is. I worry for us next summer.
Back to 3-5-2 tonight which I feel is for the best with this group of players.
Montolivo makes his first appearance for Italy since breaking his leg against Ireland in a warm-up game before the disappointing performance at the 2014 World Cup. 
Pelle nearly scores from the first attack, I expect a good performance tonight after a laboured qualifying performance.
