You said CR has “at least proven himself at three different clubs now”. Totti only ever proved himself at one club and presumably you rate him higher than both
I didn’t compare either Messi or CR7 with Totti.
Totti was a born and bred Romanista. Messi left the Newells youth system as a teenaged to go halfway around the world. I think Messi is scared to go outside his comfort zone at Barca, it’s reflected by his national team performances.
Is loyalty a bad thing? Why would he leave one of the biggest clubs in the world and living in one of the best cities in Europe? Totti never tested himself at the highest level of club football, I admire his loyalty but you can’t have it one way and not the other with Totti and Messi
I’m saying loyalty was Totti’s reason.
I’m saying fear is the rationale for Messi, Messi needs Barcelona every bit as much as he does.
