Kilkenny will beat Limerick.

Tipp v Galway in Ennis would have a sense of occasion about it on a Saturday evening.

Limerick Dublin in portlaoise at 3pm and Tipp Galway in Ennis at 5:15 on the Saturday evening

It’s a double header in Cork lads

Probably

It would be sooooo Dublin hurling to meekly exit the championship losing by 24 points in a 1:15pm throw in on a Saturday at Pairc Ui Chaoimh in front of about 4,000 spectators.

Tipperary would have about 85% of the crowd for such a MADH.

This would be the sensible arrangement so you can be guaranteed it won’t happen.

Sending limerick, Dublin and the few dozen Galway supporters down to Cork would be madness

The only thing that would be even more Dublin hurling is for Dublin to agree to play Limerick in Limerick so that the GAA could have an exceedingly attractive double header there.

If they played the two of them in Thurles, would Galway be that bothered?

That’d be handy, hopefully now. Is Croke Park a runner? I’d say Kiely wouldn’t mind a run out there.

You’d be looking at a crowd of 30-35k max for a double header so I would highly doubt it.

30-35K could be being optimistic.

Ennis would be the obvious venue for Galway v Tipperary as it might generate a bit of atmosphere that wouldn’t otherwise happen in the bigger TUSGG. The 20k capacity of Robert Zimmerman Park should comfortably cater for it.

Portlaoise is a handy hour on the motorway for both Limerick and Dublin although it’s a woejus shithole. Then again, so is Thurles these days so it’s all the one. Spike should toss a coin with the Dublin secretary.

At least the hen doesn’t go into the foxes den pretending it’s a show of strength.

Ennis would be ideal alright for Galway and Tipp, would add a sense of intrigue, when would that pairing have played there before? Venue probably deemed too small for any recent clashes between them.

I’m trying to figure out the Bogball scenarios here as far as I can make out there are preliminary quarter finals to be held that weekend also, which Dublin will probably be involved in. Are those games neutral, home advantage for 2nd place team, or a first-out-of-hat-at-home type fixtures?

They played a league final in Ennis around the turn of the century.

Don’t think they met much in the qualifiers in the 2000s. Did they play in Salthill one year? All Ireland series was always Croke Park games.

Surely they’d never fit the famed tipp support into Ennis?

Yep, when Denis Byrne was lining out for Tipp as far as I remember. 2003 possibly?

…and put on a full schedule of adult fixtures that afternoon…

July 13th, 2003. I attended this one. Galway’s performance in that game was a bit like today’s - utterly lifeless until a late but too late comeback.

It was 2003 in Salthill. A week or so after we had beaten Clare in Ennis with ollie fahy going in and digging Davy off the ball. He didn’t like that so he didn’t.

Galway v tipp should be in limerick. Fuck going to Cork. Or tullamore would suit both fine and be the perfect size.
