Cork v Waterford on the last day battling for 3rd place should be a cracker

Interesting schedule for the provincial champions. An away trip to a ramshackle venue barely capable of hosting these games. Off to Walsh Park then a fortnight later.

The two games on the home stretch in the Mid Western capital will be epic occasions though. Town will be hopping.

Limerick home to cork and Clare in the last 2 weeks. Someone with a a commercial hat is making decisions out in castletroy.

JP needs to get cracking on a second tier for the Mackey Stand.

Yes, we will be going from handiest to hardest week on week.

Will be good to have Liam MacCarthy status for 2026 assured after round 1.

The Munster Council will probably be accused of fixing it to facilitate the seven in a row.

Finishing with 2 home games will be a novelty. Waterford have been screwed a little bit by those fixtures though.

Tis the first tier that’s the problem!

Tipp and the deise could be staring down the barrel after 2 games.

I predict the TUSGG will have a stand resembling Sofi stadium by next may.

Except the seats will still mark the arses of everyone that sits on them

You’d hate for the ambience in TUSGG / OTnSPnnG to become too corporate. The experience of descending into the dark bowels of the Open Stand for a piss and a refreshment must not be sanitised.

The Clare v Cork game looks huge from the outset… more so for Cork. Lose and they also gotta go to the Gaelic Grounds which i presume is the 18th and that’s an error above? Everyone will say they’ll bate Tipp and Waterford handy and the Limerick game wont matter but :man_shrugging:

The worst case for either Limerick or Clare is needing a result on the last day in what is always a grudge match. That 2023 home loss still rankles.

Its far more important for Clare to win that first game.

Cork should beat Tipp and Waterford at home and get to 4 points which will be enough to keep them ahead of Tipp/Waterford on H2H if either make it to 4.

If Clare lose on day 1 then they must beat Waterford away in game 2 or they will most likely be done for as Waterford would have a likely already eliminated Tipp in game 3 to get to 4 points which would keep them ahead of Clare even if Clare won their two final games.

Typo amended :+1:t2:

Not too sure… if it came down to Cork v Waterford in a one off winner takes all on the last day then who knows.

But we’re agreed it is a significant game.

I’ll probably never admit this again, but my word the Munster championship is absolutely box office compared to the dross in Leinster. Every fixture has portent. It’s actually wrong that a really really good side could go out, and third place in Leinster go through.
The Munster championship is the apex of hurling, and should be got rid of. A paradox.
