I hear Newtown are the shock favourites for relegation this year after losing some big names. I fancy Sars to romp home to success again.
What are Midleton like?
i’d fancy Newtown to get to a final at least, think whats left will be galvanised, those that have abdicated could do with a refresher and listen to this…

Sars maybe to win it
Newtown will go nowhere, impossible to replace such a loss of talent. Assuming Aidan Ryan isn’t back Midleton won’t do much either.
Shane Fives playing for Carrigtwohill this year apparently.
That’s right Shane Fives has decided to take a step down at club level to enable him to put more effort into his county career.
Start of the Hurling Championship this weekend. Sars are strong favorites to win it out @6/4 with midelton @ 7/1 next. Eirns Own/Na Piarsaigh should be a good game, going by recent games B
hit the send button early:mad: Ballymartle should over come a depleted Newtown side, The Glen should have enough for the Bars with Hoggie, fancy Bride rovers to beat Carrig, east derby of Douglas and Midelton should be a cracker, great to have the championship back:)
Would expect Carrig to beat Bride most times. Is there something I’m missing?
What.
Missed that, is he saying everything east of the Magic round-a-bout is the “East” now?
I think the bet of the weekend is Newtown to beat Ballymartle. The Newtown squad are hugely up for this game and want to show that their is life after Ben and Gerry. Hugely the first round of the championship is an anti climax but this should be a cracking game. With the whole parish behind them, Newtown can shock Ballymartle and win this game.
Very unlikely. Going by the league ( more quality of opponents than actual standing, which is close enough) Ballymartyle are in better form. And even when Newtown had O Connors, in last year or so I’d fancy Bally anyway.
I think you’ll be proven wrong mate, this is a county final to Newtown, can’t see Ballymartle matching their hunger.
This is a must win for the players in the newtown squad since the o`connors pulled out
I don’t think you understand Ballymartyle, they are one of these clubs that feel very privileged to be even playing Senior and treat every game as very important. If Newtown are “too up for it” it could backfire in a big way as well. Trying to prove a couple of lads, who packed in throwing their rattle out of the pram, wrong, is hardly a great basis for wanting to perform to your best in championship.
I haven’t seen either side in 2 years, but my feeling would be Newtown might be setting themselves for a fall if that’s the “talk” around the place.

I disagree, dont’ see anything wrong in having motivation in proving the lads who pulled out wrong. I agree that Newtown could be too up for it but the Sparrow is a cool customer and should have the lads right on the night. Ballymartle are a good side but whether they have the backs to stop the pace of Naughton, Clifford, Coughlan and Bowles i would have my doubts.
We’ll see, that is alot of pace alright, nevertheless they have had those players for a long time, nothing new.
What about Douglas to shock Midleton? 3-1 is decent odds, Midleton are hit and miss.
Midleton don’t lose East Cork derbies
Midleton have not kicked on like I thought they would. Douglas though have a dual problem, a problem that means they’ll never win either the way they are going. I’d always fancy the true hurling club ( or football) when things get tight. So Midleton, but it’s only a calculated guess.
