Cork, the softest of cunts (Part 2)

Could have sworn he was there for at least one game, maybe Tipp?

Cahalane did fine yesterday, O’Brien sold him a good dummy that would have caught out most inter county defenders, he hurled a bit of ball himself, his delivery was decent.

It’ll be disappointing for Joyce not to be on the field when Cork win the All Ireland this year. He deserved that moment.

The much maligned Damien Cahalane

I thought Cahalane had a good match yesterday ditto v Limerick in the Munster final last yesterday

People talk about Shane O’Brien getting 3 points off Cahalane , however with the amount of ball going through O’Brien in the absence of Gillane it was kind if inevitable he would wind up with a few scores no matter who he was marking. In the end O’Brien was substituted. If he was scalding Cahalane he wouldnt have been subbed.

People forget Cork won Munster final last year with Cahalane playing the whole game. Cormac O Brien also played wing back that day. He wil surely come back into the reckoning for the remainder of the round robbin games.

Did Cahalane beat SOB to many balls?

I haven’t watched it all back but my guy feeling would be that they didn’t actually contest that much possession at all.

Cahalane certainly hurled a serious amount of ball and used it well

I would guess COB will start the next day with Downey & Joyce out? He’s solid out.

But were they not all off short puckouts as the spare man?

He delivered some good ball alright but they had to choose to leave someone spare.

I didnt analyse it that deeply, I was at the match and my gut feeling is that Cahalane had a good solid game. I am happy to leave it at that and wont watch the match back if people want to say he wasnt good to see who is correct

I think he did okay but I’d be surprised if he starts the next day tbh. I may watch it back at some point and I’ll see.

Yeah he will come in at 7 and younger Downey to 6 I suspect.

Dont rule out Mullins starting.

COB has very little hurling done this year has he?

We hope he does start the next day as he isn’t a very good hurler, will give away a tonne of frees and is likely to get sent off.

Not much no but he is one of these players than can come in cold with little game time and do well.

he didnt start in the all ireland final last year and Cork still managed to get a man sent off!

ditto v clare in munster

I think the balance of both Mullins and Coleman in half back line would be off. Coleman can be a little loose so you need an out and out defender. Imo its 1 of them for that 1 position.

Another armchair expert who knows more than various Cork management over the past God knows how many years,

I think Ben trusts Mullins from hes time with the 20s. I think he will start.
