Is this hurlings version of eye gouging?
Official all clear for Ozzie.
Good news.
Sanity prevails.
It is a bit of a joke, he was so stupid for doing it, especially considering all the furore in the build-up. But it will make for a better final if heâs there.
Yeah we might keep it picked out to Galway now.
Pick away
All that remains now is for James Ownes to say he is not happy with his performance in the semifinal, and should not have sent off Conor Gleeson.
I would say yes, ban it from the game. What Walsh was doing was a blight on the game, if every defender started doing it and got away with it it would ruin play. Itâs. A simple rule and itâs not difficult to stick to the rule, just wipe it out.
You couldnât make it up.
Conor Gleeson had to go pal,
He should have stood up and smirked at Horgan as theyâd the game won.
Its tough on himâŚbut you cant strike out like that.
Dan Shanahan the latest to be caught up in the helmet interference controversy.
That doesnât look great at all.

Why is Derek wiping his head?
Very good article by PM OâSullivan in todayâs Examiner. Did you read it, @Malarkey? Iâm sure a load of roasters saw the use of âfiatsâ and thought he meant âfeatsâ. Great stuff. About to read Jackie Tyrrellâs piece now. Itâs become a little tradition of mine to do 60-90 minutes work on Friday mornings, make sure everything is under control, grab a coffee and then take 10 minutes to read Jackieâs and PMâs Friday articles.
Very weak article by Jackie today about the All Ireland final build up. 85% of it about what you need to do differently to make sure youâre properly prepared (shutting yourself off from the world for 3 weeks etc) before the last 15% shifts to a âtreat it like any other game and donât be consumed by itâ conclusion. Just about to check out PMâs offering in the Examiner now.
Waterford won
Have you got through it yet? A lot of guff to say that the the sweeper success shouldnt be based on the result of a game with a man sent off. Oh and plenty of superiority âKilkenny are betterâ type innuendo throughout too. A real âyouâre not as good as you think you areâ article to the good people of Waterford.
Furthering this point, Kilkenny people seem to be taking this Waterford team and their success this year particularly badly. You have heaps of former players and current âpunditsâ very much belittling them and their system at every turn. And their supporters seem particularly ungracious to their southern neighbours efforts. At least when Wexford were getting some modicum of success we got the faint praise of âsecond countyâ and âsure arent ye great for finally winning somethingâ off them. No such false platitudes from Kilkenny these days to the Deise.
No doubt when Galway win Sheffield et Al will be crowing that this is proof that the sweeper system wonât win all Irelands, when all it proves is they lost to a better team.
On the flip side, I was hearing Waterford lads saying that by them beating Cork it was proof that you can win an All Ireland with the sweeper. Their logic being that once you get to the final anyone could win, so that was proof the sweeper can win the All Ireland.
Waterford are just better than Kilkenny, sweeper system or no. Some of Kilkennyâs best players just looked tired and drained this year, whereas Waterford are a young, fresh team with a few older lads who are also flying.
I havenât read the article but I do think itâs fair to question whether Waterford would have won without the red card. They might have won anyway but weâll never really know. The game was definitely in the balance when it happened.
