Coronavirus - Dig In, It's going to be a while yet

Go walk the dog, brah.

Thatā€™s literally what we are being told to do. Isolate.

You havenā€™t a fucking clue.

Maybe itā€™s because you went to a racing festival during a impending global crisis, came home and asked lads from the forum to go for a pint and have been trying since then to downplay the threat to people since then.

Maybe its that

ICUā€™s arenā€™t boring?

The simple facts are we can not continue lock down A day longer than is needed or else itā€™ll be much worse than the virus. Itā€™s up to the powers to be to make the call but I reckon itā€™ll be at a max two weeks. The panickers can stay in their under ground huts if they so please. We can not let a flu virus to cause society to fall apart.

Itā€™s plausible that China have lied about their numbers and that their measures have also worked. It doesnt have to be one or the other. When it was first reported the doctor that broke the story was silenced and any news of an outbreak was quashed. A couple of months later there were thousands of Wuhan people taking to social media to criticize the government - a hashtag was created in honour of the first doctor who reported it and later died from the disease. Such protest is unheard of in China and to warrant such anger there must have been a lot more going on than what weā€™ve been led to believe.

Iā€™ve no doubt the Chinese government has suppressed the whole truth of whatā€™s gone on - but their testing and tracing was unbelievable once they kicked into gear. Tested and results back with a few hours . Of course they were more prepared for this with past outbreaks but it was still some turnaround.

Nevertheless, thereā€™s no way they suffered less numbers than Spain and Italy given that it originated in Wuhan and no one knew what was going on for weeks and then it was initially suppressed ā€¦ the disease almost had 6-8 weeks to spread before measures were taken and wuhan has a population of 8-10m? New York is a similar size and look how it has spread there in as many weeks.

Wuhan has a population density of 3200 to the square mile. In New York itā€™s 28000. Chalk and cheese.

The startling thing for me was the Chinese doctor in Italy saw their initial attempts at lockdown his response was what are you doing? Youā€™re killing people.

They locked it down hard. They had the ability to lock it down hard and the people complied.

If you donā€™t believe China, look at South Korea.

We have to believe that lockdown works, otherwise itā€™s all fucking pointless

Lads need to get off here for a few hours or a day or two.

Iā€™m not arguing against lockdown. Of course it slows it down. Iā€™m saying thereā€™s no way only 3k people died in the whole of China, particularly when it had almost 2 months to run free in Wuhan before they introduced full measures. It turns out Wuhan has 11m population ā€” it just doesnt add up.

Do you believe the number of people China say have died from this?

What about the poor people in Chiiiina, Martin?

Madrid is 5400 and as over 3500 death ---- more than the whole of china

Because it started with one person in Wuhan and multipled out so the rate was slower and their lockdown moves worked just in time. It could have been introduced to Italy by a 1000 people in the space of a week so it multipled much quicker and continued to do so before their lock down measures kicked in.

Wuhan was placed under quarantine on January 23rd and Wubei a couple of days later. The U.S had their first case on January the 20th.

Yes but the health service couldnā€™t cope on top of how quickly it spread. How people introduced it to Madrid in a short period of time.

Lockdown just in time? - They fucking suppressed the disease and let the Chinese New Year celebrations go ahead ā€” come out of it.
