So did every other western country, regardless of what level of restrictions were in place. January is the worst month for respiratory diseases and deaths. I do agree the encouragement in late November of a âmeaningful Christmasâ was self defeating, especially allowing places of worship, cinemas, etc. to reopen. It was known for many months at that stage that the disease was airborne and mainly spread indoors, so encouraging people to congregate indoors was very foolhardy.
There is no question people let their guard down over the holidays and this contributed to the spike in January. But it happened everywhere, regardless of what governments were doing or not doing in terms of restrictions.
UK looks to be in serious bother with the Saff variant now. Popping up all over the place. Youâd imagine this is going to potentially cause serious mutation possibily with people who are half-vaccinated with the AZ vaccine. At this stage I think itâs fair to say we are well and truly fucked for a few years yet.

TBF Israel are doing ok.
225 cases two days ago, 176 cases yesterday. Everything well opened up. Itâs just time to get on with things and live with whatever risk is there.

That tom black bastard was on nolan yesterday. He let it slip that the aim was zero covid and that heâll be masked and socially distanced next winter. He also said the people had worked hard and deserved a little reward.
Iâd see no harm at all in a few of those lads being roughed up a littleâŚmetaphorically speaking of course. Theyâre unelected, answerable to no one and have complete freedom to destroy lives and businesses. They have no intention of stepping out of the limelight within the next few years

Itâs over mate, you fought the good fight but itâs time to concede. A Zero Covid island is now clearly the way forward. According to the authors of the Zero Covid island strategy in summer of 2020, the economy will boom afterwards. Just like the 1930s. Everyone in Ireland will be dancing at the crossroads this time next year.
Iâve no issues with the zero covid, just not the lockdowns. Still who can argue, the sooner people get back to dying of other stuff the better for everyone
