Think he had a degree of respect/popularity when he burst onto the scene as an independent. A financial expert who regaled us practically nightly on The Vinny Browne Show on panels containing the likes of Constantin, Ming, the late Peter Mat(t)hews, Paul Somerville and others in around 2010. I could be wrong but I think his star had waned a fair bit as his Soc Dems stint progressed. Does anyone recall that Martin announced his arrival as a coup and said heâd be focusing on Brexit because it was so fundamental to the countryâs future. That was quietly shelved a few months later when he became health spokesperson. Weâre lucky to have him.
