Work from home is not Zero Covid. But yes the Zero Covid people have generally been fairly spot on in their analysis.
At every stage of this pandemic corners have been cut, and that policy hasnât worked.
Nor do I believe people should have ever been offered false hope. Britain offered false hope about June 21st and now there is widespread anger and dissatisfaction there. You canât cut corners.
Well, having achieved a kind of default clarity, we can leave it there. I think we both know that line was not a wind up â and typifies unfortunately the bad faith embedded in the OIUTF mindset. Ironically enough, this mindset is a version of the Anglo Saxon/Protestant ethic, given said mindsetâs impatience with nature and its impatience per se.
Ronan Bennett offered an intriguing gloss on this mindset in one of his novels, Havoc, In Its Third Year (2004).
That great reopening on the 21st June was never on the cards over there. Total bullshit. In my view it should have been, but thats a different argument.
The outside dining is grand at the moment with the good weather, once the usual rain etc comes around itâll be a different story though.
No one should be forced to go into an environment they are not comfortable with during covid until we have a vast majority vaccinated. Its the same as my opinion on masks, I donât agree but it doesnât effect me too much.
Yes I think the outdoor thing is generally fine as long as people donât take the piss completely. There is possibly a chance to open up outdoor sporting venues to a greater but still limited extent as the summer goes on, maybe as much as 25% capacity at the All-Irelands.
Personally Iâm very comfortable with the decision to forego the Euros matches as involves significant international travel and also it came too soon.
Britain did not put India on its red list for reasons other than epidemiology and therefore the Delta variant has gained a significant foothold. Because of our proximity to Britain there is a very good chance it will do so here too. Unfortunately this virus is like water, if you let it in it will come in. Travel has always been a major factor in spread.
Thatâs fair enough, itâs also why I cannot understand why people would have a problem with the Green Cert as these are indoor workplaces too and I donât believe staff should have to be subjected to contact with people who have not been vaccinated, either by choice or because the vaccine programme hasnât got around to them yet - Iâm still one of those unvaccinated people. I accept that necessary retail probably has to be an exception to this.
I would disagree there. I would make the vaccine free and available to all, but I think people have the right not to take it if they choose (I think theyâre silly for doing so too). I think excluding people from participating in society over not having a vaccine is trampling a little on their bodily autonomy
Iâm fairly conflicted to be honest on whether to get vaccinated or not, obviously iâm not staunchly for or against it but I just donât know, what way are the other 30 somethings here leaning? @The_Most_Infamous is definitely not I know that much but what about others.
I donât think being around unvaccinated people should be thebissue moreso people havenât been given the opportunity to get the vaccine like myself and yourself. Once you have it you should be able to go back to work. Itâs understandable if someone doesnât want to return to the office until they have it
Iâm in 2 minds whether to or not. Vaccine portal open for my age category by end of week/start of next week but Iâll probably wait and see the lie of the land coming into flu season next winter. Iâm reasonably fit and have no underlying conditions that I know of.
Lads, if you genuinely care for those around you in your families and those around where you live and those around the country and those around the world, get vaccinated.
We all need to man up and do it.
Thereâs a clear path out of all this, we just need to walk down it.
