Couriers

There’s a link in post 144 above.

Courier called unexpectedly today with a delivery from the UK cc @flattythehurdler.
Expected me to have the exact VAT amount ready for him in cash, which I of course didn’t.
Turned on his heel and gone with the box.

Nothing on the side of the van, so no idea who he was or who he worked for.
This is the second time know that the box has gone on the missing list.
Supplier in the UK is trying to sort it.

Was this thread called “Couriers Cun*s” at one stage?

So I finally got that package.

Payed £31.56 = €36.28 for goods and delivery.

It went UPS in the end to whom I had to pay an additional €26.87 which I work out is about a 75% markup by the courier company. A bit higher than the 23% VAT I was expecting.

Seems they charge an advanced payment/handling charge of €18.53. The details of which I haven’t been able to quantify yet.

I’m sure somebody on here will break it down for me.

Finally after a lot of emails I got a breakdown.
It’s called a Disbursement Fee plus VAT added to it.

Most couriers are charging between €13 and €18 per package.

I have a chicken coop that I got a refund for, was sent return docs by the retailer, who said it would be collected within 4 days. That was 3 weeks ago and the coop is still sitting there.

Is there a delay in collection at the moment, or have they totally forgot about it?

Forget about buying from Britain.

What a coup

I’d same with a mob for a basketball hoop. Tried them a few times and they kept saying yeah, have it booked for pickup. Even gave me stickers/labels which I had readied

3 weeks listening, still no sign so I sold it on done deal. Never heard from them.

What’s a mob?

I bought a coup last year. Paid for it and got nothing.

The seller ignores my efforts to contact him.

Must send him a follow up now actually.

Anyone use Addresspal from An Post.

The website seems an absolute clusterfuck. I signed up for it there as there is a pick up locker at the Lidl I stop at on the way home from work and it doesn’t seem to have provided me with any Virtual Address.

I use it sport.

once you log in there should be two address cards at the bottom of the home page with your Addresses for shipping from the UK and USA

Once the parcel has been processed we will let you know by email or text and you will then have the option to redirect your parcel to any of the following:

  • A Post Office/Collection Point*
  • A Parcel Locker*
  • A neighbour*
  • A safe place*
  • Or select an alternative date for delivery*

Ok cool, guys. I got my addresses once I added in payment details.

Next question is, if you are ordering something from Ireland but wanted it delivered to a pick up point what do you use? The virtual addresses it gives you are either UK or US.

Then I think you’d need to use a private Irish delivery service like Parcel Motel. Might not have your local Lidl, but sure to be somewhere local.

Or pickup from your local An Post depo of course.
