Ireland can off set its carbon footprint with this new combined heat, power and crypto mining system. 21st century version of Denmark energy policy in the 1980s

While ethereum is rising in value now, it exceeds your operating costs (electricity). However, if value halved, operating your machine could cost more than you’re getting out of it so machine becomes obsolete. Something to factor in.

I note you’re a keen gardener. The rigs produce a load of heat so you could pump that into.your greenhouse during winter and keep the grow going all year. A double use of your electricity.

Mining rigs are loud as fuck too tho and need to be kept spotless from dust. Means difficult to find a place for it in a urban home setting unless you fucking hate your neighbours.

It looks like a mad scheme to me. Since I learned recently how much energy bitcoin uses, and presumably all the other ones are trying to do the same, I’ve been thinking that surely a way will have to be found to address it - as in to attach those energy costs to the companies.

You’d want to take a nice handy nightshift job 8-8 in an industrial building and have 3/4 of these lads on the go while watching Netflix for 12 hours.

A fella pretending to work driving a forklift could make a fortune.

Indeed… if you were working in the right place I’m sure you could use server power to aid you on your way.

Fraction of the energy used in crypto than there is in current electrical usage in the banking + cash system

As electricity is the primary cost to the business too, operators chase lowest cost. There’s no lower cost than sustainable energy sources so you’ll see more and more innovation and adaption in the crypto space as makes financial sense.

If only I knew someone like that…

I know a lad who had a maintenance contract in Oz servicing a number of buildings who did just that. Using their electricity to boot!

Haven’t looked too much into the cloud mining.

The Helium miners have caught my eye in recent days. Savage lead time on them though.

The Bobcat miner I was looking at uses 5watts of power.

Time to set up our business model for Dragon’s Den - Crypto-Greenhouses… Get rich while growing tomatoes.

You could go full hog and have vertical farming with aquaponics. Fish feeding crops, crops feeding oxygen into the water, heat maintained from mining rigs. LED lights used to recreate seasonal lighting for crops.

Reuse of urban buildings so crops are close to market, minimising waste and fuel consumption.

It’s the dream bud. Hop on board.

5 watts … You’d nearly be tripling your electricity output?

How long before we’re raided for hash plants?

Rigs get very hot very quickly and very easily. Any sign of the peelers and the place could instantly combust and we have half the Northside munchied out off the fumes.

You’d run 2 of them 24/7 for less than 50 euro a year.
