Cunts on Ghost Bikes

@The Selfish Giant looks like Mac is very keen for you to take a few falls.

do they really make that much of a difference?

are they hard to get used to?

I love when we have these civil e-conversations

Make a massive difference in my opinion. More power and much easier once you’re used to them. Just forces you to think ahead more if you know you’ll have to stop. I’ve had 1 or 2 falls but my own fault for not getting my foot out of the cleat when I had plenty of time to. If you’re only doing short stop-start cycles then it mightn’t be worth it. But if you’re going for any type of decent distance then go for it.

30km a day is what i do mate

Go for it mate. It’ll change your life more than the Nutri-Bullet
anyone use cycle shoes and specialised pedals?

the guy in the fixie shop I pal around with at lunch told me they give you 30% more power but you are gauranteed to fall a number of times
Not guaranteed to fall. It’s about your roadcraft.

Better if u are doing reasonable mileage. Better knee position. Quick release possible in case of emergency. Feel a bit strange to use the first few times in the knees, but after that, they are ok.

thanks guys

i assume you are bearing in mind my bike is a fixie?

I think you mentioned once or twice that it was a fixie alright

Such spurious claims.
[I]On November 16th, Bono was involved in a high energy bicycle accident when he attempted to avoid another rider. Presented as a Trauma Alert to New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell’s Emergency Department, his Trauma Work-up at that time included multiple X-rays and CAT scans showed injuries that include:

  1. Left facial fracture involving the orbit of his eye.
  2. Left scapula (shoulder blade) fracture in three separate pieces.
  3. Left compound distal humerus fracture where the bone of his humerus was driven though his skin and the bone was in six different pieces. He was taken emergently to the operating room for a five-hour surgery Sunday evening where the elbow was washed out and debrided, a nerve trapped in the break was moved and the bone was repaired with three metal plates and 18 screws.
  4. One day later, he had surgery to his left hand to repair a fracture of his 5th metacarpal.
He will require intensive and progressive therapy, however a full recovery is expected.

    Sounds Bad.

Hope he doesn’t fade away

Must have shut his eyes and collided.

Was up in the Rotunda with Mrs Spidey earlier for a few last minute checks before Spidey junior arrives.

Took the option of a Dublin bike at the top of Parnell Square to return to the office. As I pulled onto North Frederick St and made for the bus/cycle lane a bearded hipster cycle courier came absolutley racing out of Gardiner Row and proceeded to fly by me and roar ‘Out of the Fucking Way!’

He sprinted down towards the Ambassador as the lights had just turned red. As I made my merry way down I discovered him being spoken to on the far side of the lights by 2 guards and a motorcycle cop. As they took his Pony Express ID and details I shouted over that I hoped they’d make an example of him as he is getting a bad name for us regular cyclists.

The courier was seething as I trundled on down O’Connell St.

I thought @Fagan ODowd was a little older.

Saw a cyclist this evening go through a red light and nearly hit a car turning right who had a filter light

He begins roaring at her, she gives him middle finger and he started banging window before heading off to be an organ donor but unlikely there will be much demand for his fucking eyes
