And promptly inherited the Dáil seat. Same seat didn’t see a whole lot of him over the decades he was elected to Leinster House. He had an appalling attendance record but I suppose he had a raft of constituency matters to keep on top of. Dropped for the 66 final but by then he had a fair lot of football played.
