Cycling 2013

Highlights on TG4 now

Peraud, in 9th on GC did himself a bad mischief this morning checking out the course and there was some doubt he’d start. He is starting but surely a great chance for Dani to overtake him at the least.

Roche is doing a really bad time trial on the back of his exertions yesterday.

Martin is off soon. Presuming a time trial over a climb will suit him?

That was the gist of what the commentators were saying on Eurosport before he started a few minutes ago.

He’s over a minute down at the first interval.

My second favourite rider in the race, Kwiatkowski, who unfortunately is challenging Dani Martin for a top 10 spot, has had to change bikes.

My bad, they’re all (it seems) changing bikes, from regular bikes for the climbs to TT versions. Kwiatowski is in 2nd at the minute. Not looking good for Dani?

Peraud is out though. Score.

Have Rogers and Talansky pushed Dani out of the top 10? Just following here on cyclingnews.

Martin stays in 10th

Keeping top 10 and a try for another stage in the Alps and it’ll be a hugely successful Tour.

Froome quoted as saying he surprised himself by winning today. Gone beyond a joke at this stage. Didn’t realise he was also winning the king of the mountains.

Martin apologised to his Twitter followers for his poor show!

Martin can’t TT just like Nico. Might be an outside chance for another stage win.

Today should be epic, twice up Alpe d’Huez:eek:

Wonder how Froomestrong is going to play this? Will he blow them away or just mark the main men?

I think he will have to hold back a little because there is so much spotlight on him now. He will pretend to struggle and huff and puff but do enough to maintain his lead while the oxygenated blood coursing through his body will be screaming for him to cycle backwards over the mountain.

I reckon Martin was holding back yesterday. Serious time to be made up today.

Dani will fly today.

By any normal physiological rules, Froome should have heavy legs today after his efforts yesterday. If he dominates again then, unless he’s the biggest genetic freak cycling has ever seen, it is safe to say he is 100% not riding pan y agua.

Team Sky have released Froome’s data to L’Equipe on the condition that they don’t release them to the public. Their in-house expert says his data is “coherent”.

What data?

His climbing data Mac-physiological data from his climbs for the past 2 years.
