Cycling 2013

Paul Kimmage is on Marian at 11 tomorrow.

Have you see the trailer for the documentary? Could be great.

I turned on Eurosport last night in time to see Philip Deignan break away from the leaders climbing up some long and endless mountain in California at the Tour of the aforementioned U.S. state. Considering it was 43 degrees celsius or something it was a hell of a ride. He was reeled back in with 2km to go and is now 3rd on GC.

Yeah that was good stuff. There is a big mountain stage in that race later that week. On the final climb you will see an incredible array of gimps wearing fancy dress, running after the riders.

Deignan won a race in the States last week so must be in decent form.

Thought Nico was to ride this one but he is not on the start list. He seems to have disappeared.

This is being reshown on Eurosport at the moment. 2.9km left

Today’s stage is on live now. 47km to go.

Lovely weather out in the golden state

It never rains there you know

How did Deignan finish up last night? That hill finish they reshowed last night was brutal. Lads not able to cycle once past the line.

Sagan won a bunch sprint so no changes in overall GC.

Pardon my ignorance balbec but how important a race would this California one be? Is it just for American based riders or the 2nd tier of cyclists as it clashes with the Giro?

It is gaining some popularity with the European Pros. It is mainly geared (pun intended) at the American teams. Some of the yanks on European teams like TJ Van Garderen are riding it. But it would be a second tier stage race and is probably the only one on at the moment apart from the Giro. Not sure if it would be considered a major preparation race for the Tour, usually riders do either the Tour of Switzerland or the Dauphine Libere.

Art-house cinema and doping in cycling in one gloriously seamy marriage. Looks good.

Bradley Wiggins has pulled out of the 2013 Tour de France.

A certain Verve song comes to mind

Yeah it’s a bitter sweet symphony for him alright.

Indeed. He’s a very lucky man avoiding those gruelling mountain climbs.

 to both of the posters above. That’s exactly what I was looking for. I was worried ArtFoley would be straight in to post a video.

Do ye want me to post a video lads? I’m well able.

I can’t think what you mean, but I do know a Sonnet
