I can’t see inside Messi’s head, im not Graham Hunter
Then don’t make excuses for him
This is meaningless without a poll, so we know how the wind is blowing.
I’ve no idea how to set up a poll on my iPad

I’m terribly at this sort of thing. There doesn’t seem to be much interest being honest so I’ll just leave it here.

Real Madrid were pragmatic and solid, good full backs, good centre backs, solid midfielders, pace out wide and benzema is/was the best centre forward in the world with his back to goal. A great counter attacking team, set up perfectly for two legged ties and one off games, they couldn’t get it done in the league against a weaker barca side.
Barca had issues at the back, in terms of pace and had very attacking full backs. They weren’t as pragmatic as real madrid but they probably had the best 3 midfielders in the World at the time and that midfield backboned the Spanish national teams success at the time too. Plus Messi was at his absolute peak and could always be relied on in a close game. They absolutely dominated this period.
Dan thinks picking the best team of the last 10 years is hipster. The same lad thought that some lad who spent his career in a footballing backwater was a better player than Zlatan Ibrahimovic the other day and this wasn’t a hipster opinion apparently
Marcelo v Dani Alves is a tough one too. Marcelo was very underrated.
When they played each other in that period of 2013 to 2018 Barcelona generally had Real’s number. Even the year Real Madrid were excellent and won the league and CL, Barca beat them in the big match in the run in with Messi’s last second goal at the Bernabeu
This is hardly a debate lads?
Agreed completely. The Real team of 16/17 was a great side, I’m not so sure about the others. I would nearly say the Barcelona team of 14/15 with Messi, Suare and Neymar should go down as a greater side. I’ve never seen a forward line cause such terror in a single season. The greatest attacking side of all time IMO, but Pep’s Barcelona were the GOAT. Mesmerising how they toyed with opposition. Pep’s Barca would comfortably defeat Zidane’s Madrid IMO.
Not comfortably. Pep had no pace at centre half.
Real Madrid were perfect for cup football. They’d soak up pressure all day and hammer you on the counter.
Real were ideal for knockout football that’s true. I just think Barca at their peak with Messi, Iniesta, Xavi and Busquets running the show this Real side wouldn’t last.
That team got some very dubious decisions in there favour a few times. One game v Chelsea they were robbed. Pep in general had a poor away leg record in the champions league. Over two legs I’d fancy real with a peak Ronaldo.
That Real team could barely beat the Barca team from their own era.
Real
That Barça team were arguably the greatest club side ever. Only Milan from the 80/90s and Liverpool 70s/80s would rival them.
They only won the two champions league over a three year period. I always thought the bench mark was winning back to back champions leagues. It’s really tough.
