Davy Fitz- a thread for the non-believers

Hon @Appendage. Sew it into them.

@Appendage is not to be diced with

The Wexford and kk lads circling the wagons here. It’s gonna be an epic summer. Neither of the co supporters are capable of unbiased discussion.

Davy is going to do the honourable thing and serve his ban. You’d have to have huge respect for the man, a credit to the organisation.

Is that confirmed in the media, mate?

http://www.irishmirror.ie/sport/gaa/hurling/hurling-news/wexford-davy-fitzgerald-accept-harsh-10285602?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

The statement reads:
“The County Board, and all Wexford GAA supporters, are fully supportive of Davy Fitzgerald as our senior hurling manager. Wexford people fully understand that Davy brings 100% commitment and a real passion to his coaching and it is this which makes him such an outstanding manager. We are very proud of the tremendous work he and his backroom team have put into the senior hurling squad. That work is already bearing fruit with promotion to Division 1A achieved and a real spring in the step of all GAA followers in the county.
“It is considered that the penalty imposed for Davy’s pitch encroachment is harsh and that arguments could be made for a lessening of the penalty. Indeed, it is not unknown for other similar penalties to have been nullified after appeals and legal processes. However, this decision has been reached after detailed discussion with Davy and is being taken in the broader interests of the game and of the senior hurling team. In accepting the penalty, the focus of attention can now turn elsewhere and the GAA family in Wexford can return to strengthening our games and our teams.”

Is the 8 week ban just from the sidelines or is the 8 week ban from all activities related to the Senior team such as training sessions?

He can’t train them but he can watch them shower…

Given that Barton was allowed to train and be involved with the Derry side last year while serving a similar suspension there’s not much that the GAA can do to prevent Davy from doing the same or it will look like complete scapegoat-ism.

How can you police it anyway?

Intercounty panels must give prior notice to where they will be training for the upcoming period, be it weeks months, etc, for drug testing purposes. I presume this could be utilised to allow random spot checks.

I’d love to see someone do it, and the inevitable confrontation that would follow.

Using former Kilkenny hurlers-turned analysts and the biased southern media.

You’d probably get a few bob for a picture of Davy breaking the ban, a business opportunity for you Wexicans.

No right thinking would betray their country for a few euro. Shocking to think that would happen.

I’ll need a very long lens to get the picture from Letterkenny.

Not a hope. They are all fully indoctrinated in the COD (Cult of Davy).
Luckily membership generally only lasts 12 months.

Maybe if you balanced it on the end of @mac’s nose

Christ, that’s a really fantastic and selfless gesture by Davy - a true hurling and GAA man. I think someone mentioned last week that a graceful acceptance of this harsh penalty would be reminiscent of John Mullane’s similar action all those years ago.
