The sweeper system has its undoubted uses but Clare have limped out of the championship in the last three years in the exact same manner as Wexford did on Sunday. Heâs not evolving or modifying.
Too stubborn and pigheaded to realise that it needs to be tweaked. He has never been one to accept criticism, constructive or otherwise, and assuming they stay up in 1A heâll view it as continued justification.
Itâs horrible to watch though, one or two forwards and everyone else bunched in midfield. Mind you heâs entitled to put out his team any way he wants.

The problem is theyâve too many lads from Limerick suburbs like Cratloe, Clonlara and Sixmilebridge whose heart isnât really in the Clare cause. They probably identify themselves more as Limerick men, going to school and college there
