Davy delivers.
Brought Waterford to an all Ireland final.
Won an all Ireland with an average enough Clare team. Won a league with them.
Has brought Wexford on big time in just one season. So much so that they now sit in the top six of the @Fagan_ODowd hurling rankings.
Davy is a top, top manager.
Those latest rankings are flawed. They contain a manifest error and will have to be revisited.

Davyâs arguments are wearing thin. But certainly Shefflin is an unimaginative bore, and Duignan is a lickspittle who is outraged by anything Kilkenny havenât endorsed first.

The biggest disappointment with Davy is that he now seems to be completely entrenched in the sweeper system and while it has itâs uses it pretty much hamstrings your attack and limits you to scoring 19 or 20 points a game when the top teams are scoring 25+.
When Clare won the All Ireland in 2013 it was based on a half backline finding form and giving a real platform for the team along with a side which had flexibility in terms of positions and an ability to dictate the match ups to its strengths. That soon disappeared and the side became predicable and every team we played in championship knew exactly what to expect from Clare under him and how to counter act it.
Even LIT with some real strong athletic hurlers between 5 and 12 play with a sweeper as a default over the past few seasons when they had the players to play a far more orthodox game.
Clare still have a long way to go to be All Ireland contenders but even with some out of form and average backs this year we didnât give up more goal chances than we did when we used a sweeper and carried a far greater goalscoring threat even with some terrible decision making and not sending enough ball inside.
The sweeper will keep you competative but it wonât win games on a consistent basic against teams of a similar or higher level. the more teams play against it the more prepared they are for it.

Thats why Season 2 is critical
Adaptability is his biggest weakness. He is outraged by criticism and typically believes that no one is qualified to question him. In the past he has doubled down instead of changing. Hard to see anything different happening with Wexford.
