Dealing With Burnout

I had to laugh listening to this tonight and needless to say the OTB boys missed the irony, but a chap who described himself as a juvenile strength and conditioning coach texted in to blame the parents for teen player burnout.

I’ll allow someone else post the picture of the shels centre forward from the cup final a few years back.

Give us a few examples there mate from Intercounty level.

The Molloy lad from Donegal.

Paul Kerrigan from Cork.

Michael Murphy from Donegal

Aiden O’Shea from Mayo.

You’re missing the point altogether here.

Paul Kerrigan has a big hole, look at any explosive player and you will see the same, big glutes. It’s not as svidnet in socer due to the cut of the shorts.

Palying for pats in that pic, shortly before he was sacked for being too fat.

Reinforcing my point - he was sacked for being too fat.

Of the lads I have mentioned three have won All Irelands and three of them have won All Stars. GAA players can reach the top of their game while being overweight.

Any proof of their fatness?

before you inform me that i have been “mugged off”

a lot of goalkeepers to be fair.

Aidan O’Shea is huge.

Former Australian Rules star Jason Akermanis has lashed out at Mayo star Aidan O’Shea, labelling him “too fat” for professional sports.

Akermanis, a former winner of the Brownlow medal, was responding to comments O’Shea made in a local newspaper column after he returned home from a two-week trial with the Western Bulldogs to focus on inter-county football.

“I’ll tell you what, he’s got a bloody bad attitude,” motormouth Akermanis is quoted as saying in the Irish Daily Mail.

"He was fat and overweight, which showed us that he didn’t look after himself. He was soft in the mind too. He came out, he tried to do some training and had one good performance.

Akermanis went on: "I saw what he wrote about me and my club about how one day he beat a bunch of professionals.

"Well look, just because you’re getting paid, doesn’t mean you’re an athlete.

"He showed us the reason he won’t make it is because he’s clearly not disciplined enough.

“Some of the Irish kids who come out here, their culture is different but then maybe it’s in the mind too.”

Akermanis

haha
that texter surely posts on here, the OTB lads wouldnt be sharpest id say

I think O’Shea was 19? when he went out to Aus? he wasnt even finished growing. Pure class from Akermanis to have a pop at a 19 year old chap though.

I think it’s you are missing the point here Fagan, and completely mis-understanding Strength & Conditioing, especially for the youth.

A 19 year old chap who was better than him at a sport he had never played before even though he was a bit fat.

S&C in Ireland is probably in the top 5-10 most advanced and educated in the world. Pound for pound it could be the best. The GAA does remarkably well and some of it’s coaches are amongst the best.

You are talking thru your whole here.
