Decent Journalism

Journalists seem to value cordial friendships with FF/FG TDs.

its a very fair summation of the incest between “journalists” and politicians. most of the media are trying to line up SPAD jobs by soft soaping the politicians

Opposition TDs should use this platform to outline this on a public TV appearance.

And if they get into power what relationship do you think they’ll have with the media? - they’re all cunts.

Depends on what their policies are.

Look at how the UK media hounded Jeremy Corbyn out because his policies would have impacted the status quo. It’s the same reason why the Irish media seek to keep SF out at all costs, societal change scares them, the elites are running scared.

SF are centre left these days … Nothing there to scare elites too much, not with MaryLou at the top anyway.

Why do the media keep running slur campaigns?

Whether or not there is something to be scared from is up for debate but the reality is the prospect of SF terrifies the media and elite in this country.

The thought of Pearse Doherty reforming taxation that increases tax on top earners and vulture funds terrifies the elite in society.

Sinn Fein voters are most in favour of tax cuts over investment in public services. Pearse will be implementing a neoliberal agenda.

Pearse has advocated reducing taxation on low earners and increasing it on high earners and closing off loopholes that vulture funds and the like exploit to minimise their tax returns.

That sort of policy frightens the right wing media. Anything that threats the interest of the establishment ascendant class scares the media.

He’ll need a few more embedded journos to turn the tide of opinion in the media and combat this bias. Maybe put one of these cronies in charge of the Oireachtas Media Committee. That should do the trick.

The establishment is going to keep on their campaign.

The bottom line is it’s now counter productive.

If SF voters want tax cuts, and the figures from the last year indicate that lower earners pay little or no income taxes we can only surmise that Pearse will cut back on public spending and cut taxes for the fat cats.

Pearse will be accountable to deliver his parties mandate and reform of the taxation system and closing off exploited loopholes is part of that.
