Calzaghe ducked Sven Ottke and the bent German refs

Eubank nearly knocked out a proper cruiserweight in Carl Thompson, was some fight.

Eubank v Watson was the best fight I ever watched. Brutal fights are packaged as television entertainment. You don’t think of them as having real consequences for those involved. And certainly not when you’re watching them as a child.

Was he really that much of a cunt though? Possibly he was just a bit cocky at a time when that was completely forbidden in Ireland. The Collins eubank fight was the first time I ever saw lads cheering against an irishman in anything. That would be normal enough in the internet age.

Beat the Mrs, slammed her head in the fridge door.

I thought the same as that until he battered his wife.

He was a great panto villian type and was a great entertainer . He was a hugely resolute fighter too .

He wasn’t a great front foot boxer

Eubank(s) was one of those lads like malcolm Glaz(i)er and David moy(l)es who always had his surname prounouned wrong.

Agreed he lost to Collins second time round for that reason alone. Collins did all the attacking. He nearly lost to Ray Close for the same reason.

The Millstreet theatrics with Tony Quinn were box office.

Close was robbed tbf.

Wasn’t sure where to post this, here seems as good a place as any bar one of the Churchy threads.

Impressive piece of writing, gets to the point while making you smile, frown and become downright angry.

One to watch is this fella.

Hopkins, Roy Jones Jr, Mayweather, Gatti, Mosely were the big US names of that era that spring to mind.

Was Corrales Mexican? Cant even remember but his fights were always great and huge draw in yankland
