Deflection thread

I’m making a show of the Missy fanboys.

he beat 3 players and laid on a sitter for Di Maria in the RD 16 to beat the Swiss, that was knockout was it not?

I think you’ll find Mark Renton gave you an unbelievable clamping with that article and you are proceeding to make an unbelievable arse out of yourself. You might be a moron, but fair play to you, you’re a persistent one.

@Il Bomber Destro is an astute judge of association football and calls it as he sees it. He does let petty grievences colour his opinions of players though. All you need to do is look at his completely unjustified and over the top criticism of the magnificent Kevin Strootman last year

If Di Maria was so brilliant why did Messi have to win all three group games for them and put a goal on a plate for Di Maria against Switzerland? Stop embarrassing yourself

Hyperbole. He beat one player. If you think that sole contribution is enough in 450 minutes of knockout football from a guy who is meant to be the best in the world then you are only contradicting yourself. Missy flopped, arguing otherwise is being ignorant.

Why do you keep arsing on about the group stage matches against diddy teams?

Di Maria didn’t play much in the knockouts so I had to go back to the group stages and I didn’t see Di Maria tearing any of those diddy teams apart, even with all the marking on Messi, Di Maria couldn’t do anything with all the space he got

Who wrote that shit article that @Mark Renton posted?

Messi was crap but he was marked heavily so that means he was actually great seems to be the tenet of the bizarre argument.

The lad was useless. Time to move on.

Essentially the argument Rudi/Bomber/Totti is making is that unless you have a World Cup winners medal, you are not a great of the game. So in his world Alfredo di Stefano, Ferenc Puskas, Eusebio, Johann Cruyff, Zico, Michel Platini, Marco Van Basten, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to name but a few are not greats of the game but the likes of Stephane Guivarc’h, Roque Junior, Cristian Zaccardo and Kleberson are greats.

Lets not forget this is the same bright spark who reckons hurling is a game of no skill, who rates Ciaran McKeever of Armagh currently the most inspirational Gaelic Footballer in the game, who approves and encourages the racial abusing of Mario Balotelli and Luis Suarez biting tendencies, who rates Alberto Costa, Michael Chang & Gaston Gaudia as tennis greats and more complete tennis players than Jimmy Connors, Pete Sampras, John McEnroe & Roger Federer (none of whom are rated as tennis greats).

What you’re dealing with here is either an attention seeker of the highest order or if these views are genuinely held, a very strange individual.

Too good for the teamtalk.

If you actually read that article you will find it is a mixture of half truths, irrelevant facts, biased opinions and piss-taking.

He had to go to do the coin toss with Phillip Lahm and the referee

Link? Even a Junior B captain would tell the ref to fuck right off until the talk was done.

Inspirational Captain

What did Totti score from play in the knock out stages at major tournaments?

Why are you persisting with trying to argue the unarguable?

He’s 0 goals from 11 anyway in the World Cup. Think he scored 2 goals in Euro 2000.

thats not the argument whatsoever

People are merely trying to muddy the waters with the inclusion of Totti.

Put simply, Messi has shit the pot for my beloved Argentina at 3 World Cups now, despite being hailed as the greatest player in World Football. He strolled about all World Cup, barely breaking into a sprint. Now this is acceptable if you get shit done, but rarely was this the case, despite the protestations of the blind on here. Messi is a Cruyff, not a Diego. He will never be a Diego.
