Heā€™s one of the all time top scorers in the European Championship, you fool.

On the topic of myths. You know who is the biggest myth around here? @Nembo_Kid

I believed the hype for ages but my god how I was fooled. Thinking Virgil Van Shite is better than John Stones, the kildare will beat kerry fiasco etc etc

He tries to make himself out as the ā€œgreatest sporting mindā€ on this forum. He is indeed a fraud. A fraud of the highest order.

He played for one big club and failed miserably and is considered a laughing stock.

He won the league with Milan and was their star man there.

Zlatan has never been player of the World Cup, like Messi was in 2014.

In fact Zlatan has never even scored in a World Cup finals tournament.

Messi has a pathetic goals from open play record in international football tournaments despite playing for one of the traditional superpowers.

Heā€™s meant to be the best in the world but he stands back and letā€™s the lesser lights lead the charge.

Maradona called him out on his gutless displays for his country.

Bit of a stretch calling Argentina a ā€˜traditional superpowerā€™. Argentinaā€™s overall World Cup record is modest. From 1930 to 1966, they failed to advance from the group stages at the World Cup, they failed to qualify in 1970 and were beaten three times at the World Cup in 1974 (including a 4-0 mauling by the Netherlands). After the successes of 1978 & 86, there was another quarter century of mediocrity. After making the final in 1990, they failed to make it further than the quarter finals in the next five World Cupā€™s until Messi, the player of the World Cup in 2014 spearheaded their run to the final.

A penalty shoot-out is the ultimate test of technique and nerve, pal. Not a lottery system.

Not a bit of a stretch at all. Argentina are one of only 5 countries with multiple World Cups to their name.

Van Dijk is vastly superior to Stones, you imbecile.

I donā€™t mind when you say that Messi isnā€™t as good for Argentina as he is for Barca but to say that the lesser lights lead the charge is just plain wrong

Van Dijk looks shit the minute he plays against even half decent teams in Europe

They also hadnā€™t got to a World Cup final in 24 years before 2014

Incorrect. Di Maria and Mascherano are much more influential.

Yes and Messi was a passenger once the group stage finished.

Mascherano is very important defensively. Messi is way better than Di Maria for Argentina. Di Maria gets so many great passes by Messi to put him into good positions to get a cross and ends up either hitting the defender in front of him or losing the ball

Laid the ball on a plate for Di Maria to score against Switzerland after Di Maria had been completely shit for the whole game. Played loads of wonderful passes against Belgium. The Dutch match he was poor from what I recall. If you look at the final through unbiased eyes he did well in normal time and was bad in extra time

No heā€™s not. Di Maria is far better, works harder, is braver and contributes just as much in an attacking sense in the crunch games.
