Diego Maradona Appreciation Thread

What I meant was the lads saying it didnā€™t even know his name but I remember being assured that the Russian keeper was the worlds best

Maradona used to open up his legs and express himself

Alberto Juantorena was the first to do that.

Not even a selfie. Its a photo

The Film4 documentary is very good.

Hsrd to believe a lad who works in a funeral homes is a bit weird.

Sure some other lad had to take the photo of that funeral home weirdo

Maradona at Napoli was just a perfect storm. Best player of all time in a success starved football mad city, a city perfect to indulge all of his vices so long as he obliged on the field. Leads them to unprecedented success but then has a massive fallout. Hollywood couldnā€™t write anything as good.

Did he have a massive fallout with Napoli

Naples loves him and have named their stadium after him

I think he did a bit over them supporting Italy in the semi final. I presume they made up after

Yeah after he put the italians out of the 1990 World Cup. Suddenly he stopped getting away with things.

More Italy than Napoli I suppose but the mood definitely soured

Jesus this is beautiful, itā€™s poetry.

Jonathan Wilson opened Football Weekly with the most beautiful tribute and description about Maradona, Football and Argentina. It was magnificent. To love Football is to love Argentina.

Those who are football are Italian.

Iā€™m watching a clip of Jonathan Wilson talking about Maradona being interviewed by a guy called Enda Coll.

He must be the worst interviewer ever.
