Does hurling have a diving problem? Fights in the crowd at GAA matches and other stories

I think we need to do something about this. It’s getting out of control. Any little tap, or sometimes even less, and fells are on the ground rolling around.

Needs to be called out and stamped out

Prominent players have been calling it out

Pat Horgan has it down to a fine art alright

In the interest of fairness, I think Hego went down soft against Waterford a few years ago. And Byrnes did against Clare in 2018.

But there’s an incident in every game these days

The only way to stop diving is for someone to hit Hogan a proper flake

I think we should take a deep breath & realise everybody needs to get up in the morning.

That goes for protagonists, supporters, media.

The backlash against the backlash for diving will surely start soon.

I’ve regularly called for a Monday evening review committee where any incidents of play acting could be reviewed with bans handed out. That wouldn’t be long stamping it out.

Id add that if a player goes down holding his head, a mandatory HIA needs to happen. Ten mins off the pitch immediately

Adam Hogan needs to be singled out this week and sanctioned by the CCCC.

Only saw the Waterford incident on The Sunday Game X post.

Absolutely embarrassing from Hogan. A tiny tap and he’s rolling around to get the Waterford guy sent off. There’s no defending that carry on.

And the knowledgeable Clare fans egging him on and roaring like bulls for a red card. I took a stand against such carry on and nearly got a box in the mouth for my troubles

Hurling has an amount of problems. But hurling people dont want them addressed.

I’d recommend Jim Gavin and Eamon Fitz be let at hurling and we’d really get a game worth lauding.

I doubt Jim Gavin will go near the rules again after he inadvertently designing a set of rules that allow the Dubs to be beaten in Leinster.

But a change might see the hurlers start to win?

Your presumed reaction of ‘get up ya diving cunt, ya’ was fully justified in that instance.

Hogan has been emboldened by refs giving frees for nothing over the last 18 months and by some senior members of his own panel.

In the same way you’d hope Mccarthy learns from his red yesterday, hopefully Hogan learns a lesson from this and cops on.
He’s a fine player.

If his aim was anthing like the 15 clare had on the pitch yesterday, you’d have no worries, hed have fuckin missed.

My precise words were “He’s at this every week now, he got a Cork fella sent off last week. Typical Clare”. At which point the Clare fella in front of me turned around and launched a rant that began with TYPICAL CLARE! TYPICAL CLARE! YOU FUCKING CUNT! YOU’RE TYPICAL WATERFORD! A FUCKING SOCCER SUPPORTER. WHY AREN’T YOU AT A FUCKING SOCCER MATCH? He paused for a while and continued the spit flecked rant at half time.

@turfcutter let himself down badly there.

There’s only one way to solve this problem and that is to legalise all physical violence on the pitch.

I say they should do it.
