In my opinion it has to. Massive gap beginning to emerge between Munster and Leinster hurling championships. Totally unfair on Munster teams the current format is.
Christ will you edit the title.
For years Munster teams avoided an open draw out of fear of Kilkenny, are they now gonna start talking smather? Open draw all the way.
The round robin is enjoyable… Bringing big games to small grounds is what you want. Now, whether you just mix the lot up and scrap the provincials, I’m not sure but it could be tried… I doubt it will happen for money reasons.
No. Bring back the round robin next year.
Munster Hurling particularly is the finest.
Has to be mixed up surely. Munster teams miles ahead of their Leinster counterparts.
Just the 10 in a row u20/21 wins for Munster teams. I wouldn’t bet against it becoming 10 in a row at senior level as well in this run
Munster has 5 counties that prioritize hurling, Leinster has 2 and one of those is Wexford… Bigger wonder is how Kilkenny went years dominating senior and us minor.
Kilkenny are on the wane so nothing in Leinster to worry Munster teams going forward. Not good for the competition to have 2 Munster teams going out early.
Right.
So what’s your suggestion to change the format
The Munster championship is a cash cow
Going nowhere
Do you honestly think the Munster council are going to pass on 2 Lk v Cork full houses next year
It has to go
The round robin nonsense has to go.
Same structure as this year is fine.
Over the next 3 or 4 seasons I’d be surprised if cork / limerick aren’t well ahead of the rest and then there’s very little between the rest.
With new managerial appointments I’d expect both Wexford and Galway to join Clare and Waterford in the next group.
Both Kilkenny and tipp probably need rebuilds and I’m well aware those counties can rebuild much quicker than the majority of counties.
The smaller counties have little chance in the round robin imo. Its no surprise Waterford we’re so poor in 18 and 19 but faired in 20 and 21 in a traditional championship.
