Maybe for a treat, mate
Iâll check it out this weekend so and get back to you, bud-are you around this weekend or are you back down the road?
I treat myself to this the odd Sunday-2 rashers and an egg. It is extremely good value although Iâm not mad on their coffee.
Anybody been to 3fe on Grand Canal Street yet? Heard their coffee is amazeballs if a little expensive-same for their sandwiches.
Whereabouts on Grand Canal Street, bro? Is it near any other business / landmark?
Across the road from NAMA, bud-the other side of that junction.
Very good, pal. Would they do a brunch there too? I forgave Herb Street for their racist tweet about John Joe Nevin a while back but wouldnât mind another decent brunch option in the locality.
Thereâs another new coffee shop after opening in GCD down the side of The Marker too.
Taxi driver Robert Noone was telling me recently that Herb Street wanted to knock through into the premises between itself and Bakerâs but were outbid at auction. They then approached the new owner, who revealed to them that he purchased the building as a present for his missus. Sheâs apparently going to open a beautician type business there.
All in all, Iâm thrilled with the commercial developments in GCD which are pricing the original inhabitants of the area and other lesser well off people away to other neighbourhoods. We could do with a good pub though.

Me and my chums have discussed the viability of opening a pub in the area a number of times after a few jars-a good one would absolutely clean up. I detest Elyâs and the Ferryman. How open would you be for project financing me and my buddies to do up the Ocean Bar and reopen it, pal? We already have some menu ideas for bar food and also for changing the layout. I can scan you some sketches by PM that you could show to some potential investors.
Fyi, I love the coffee in Bakerâs but the only time I ate there, my acquaintance and I spent the evening pooing and vomiting-maybe it was a coincidence, maybe not.

No offence pal but the only original inhabitant of the GCD area was the Gasometer.

What were ye doing to each other after the food?
Come again.
Not the âonlyâ one, pal.
Yes the only one.
No offence but youâre incorrect.
Bro, why do you detest the Ferryman?
I think this has come up before, mate and @Spidey took great offence because he knows the owners. I find the bar staff in there to be extremely rude and, when they are charging more for a pint than anybody else in the area, I find this unacceptable. It can also get packed with utter cunts out of nowhere after a theatre event and, as there are no decent pubs within a 15 minute walking distance, it is a bit of a trek to head somewhere different once it fills up.
I donât think I am.
I canât argue much with that except to say that I have never really encountered the rudeness bit. Mind you I have only been there a handful of times.
They must be doing a bomb though.
Nearest pub to the Bord Gais Theatre, Convention Centre and O2 plus a shitload of apartments and offices.
Iâm certain you are.
@Horsebox. Broadly agree with you regarding The Ferryman. Service can be slow and almost grudging, even when itâs not tremendously busy.

Thatâs why I need @Bandage to organize some finance for me and my buds to reopen and restyle the shithole that was the Ocean Bar and get a slice of the massive pie that could/should be the pub trade in that area. Would you put in a word the next time you see him, pal? I will reserve a table for TFKAFC and fans on opening night and throw a few toasties to the table on the house.
Sure mate.
I already called in a favour to secure funding for a focal point in my local area.
Not around this weekend mate. But I look forward to your review.

Try Juniors on Bath Avenue, the best brunch in the area apparently.
