Drugs in sport (and non sports)

What about this Peyton Manning story?

It don’t matter as it’s only Manning, not Brady… Half the league are probably at it tho.

40% of the league at least. Apparently.

The problem with HGH is that it is almost untraceable once it has entered the body

The level, intensity and number of games the likes of Messi, Iniesta and Xavi etc were able to play over the past 8 years was startling. I fully believe without any confliction that the Barcelona team were doped up to their eyeballs.

Would be a travesty if all that evidence was destroyed. Nevertheless there must be huge political pressure within Spain to do so.

Iniesta has managed 40 + games for Barcelona every season over the past 10 seasons.

Busquets has managed 40+ games every season for Barca since breaking into the team.

Xavi managed 40+ games every season for Barca since Guardiola arrived.

Messi has managed 40+ games a season for Barca every season since Guardiola arrived on the scene.

These guys were having prolonged tournaments every two years in the summer with their countries

They play a high energy pressing game and are always on the move. To do that for a block of 8-9 years and receive only minimal amount of time on the treatment table is staggering and I would say unprecedented.

Nadal is the first name that comes to my mind when I hear about the Puerto Case.

David Ferrer used Fuentes.

No links with Nadal to him, Nadal’s injury problems fly in the face of it too. He’s also spoken out against the court ruling to destroy the blood bags.

The ones to look out for are those who play an attritional style which doesn’t seem to have taken a toll on their body.

Murray ad Djokovic were/are every bit as well conditioned as Nadal has ever been.

Crown forces would have shot him if he was found with a map and a compass on him.

Nadals name was heavily implicated at the time of the original bust. Raula pad was mentioned also. F1 driver too.
Nads dip in form appeared to end almost to the day of the court ruling to destroy the blood.

They must have a great S&C guy.

And the single biggest criticism of guardiola is the amount of injuries the squad suffered under his tenure as opposed to the preceding years where Barcelona had one of the lowest injury rates in the Spanish league.

The before and after guardiola stats on injuries in the Barcelona squad undermine your contention that only minimal time was spent on the treatment table.

How inconvenient.

What?

I don’t see where this outlook comes in terms of Nadal being on steroids. The physical level he was at in his peak has been matched and surpassed by his peers. Are they all juicing too? In the 2012 Australian Open tennis final which was the greatest match I’ve seen in tennis, Nadal and Djokovic ran themselves into the ground. Djokovic actually covered 3km more in the tournament than Nadal did. Nadal also has the fact that the game has taken its toll on his body, something which again flies in the face of that.

What made Nadal great was his iron will and resilience, the unflappable belief he had in himself to turn things around and the best forehand in the game. Djokovic is even better at covering ground and defensive side of his game than Nadal is/was. I think you could make a strong case for Djokovic being the greatest player of all time now with the consistent level he has been over for the fast 5 years or so.

The real reason these accusations are flung at Nadal is that he was better than Federer and his style of tennis was not as aesthetic for the snotty toffs in their cardigans.

Never said anything about anyone else, just that Nadal’s name was attached by multiple sources to Op Puerto.

Nadal is a well known juicer… all professional sports are littered with drugs.

What are you talking about. Barca’s key players have been clocking up 60-70 odd games a year for club and country for about 8 years on the trot now. That’s unprecedented in the modern game, particularly for a vibrant, energetic, high pressing side.

No argument there.
